honda cg 125 daz, it sounds like something you could sort, its more rewarding doing it yourself and youll gain a bit of knowledge in the process. check your air and fuel filters and take a small sample of fuel if you can into a clear bottle, let it settle and make sure there isnt any seperation in it (water will settle at the bottom). i take it from the spark you got the plug is ok but just check the cap is ok, then move onto the carb.

I have jet washed it recently well about a week ago as for the rest ive fucking no idea where to start, I'll check the air filter in the morning and if its not that then ill take the carb apart. Its the knocking i dont understand tho why? and whats causing it? I hope this is just a simple case of a rich mixture. The bike runs at very low revs but wont accelerate doesnt this mean that the actually engine is ok? just being ran like a pigs arse?
Er Eliot if its knocking I would say Crank or valves & in that case on a bike like that it may be un economical to do the job, so the Set it on fire & claim comment might not be as daft as it sounds unless you can get an engine for £100 or so
I could get a whole engine for like 150 Setting fire to it tho is risky as hell isnt it? Smash up the ignition or do i have to hotwire it? and how do i set it alight.... On a serious note tomoro isnt gonna be fun got loads to try but no idea how to do them...
well i can say that the cg engine is virtually bulletproof, extremely over-engineed for it's low 12bhp output, so it's beyond me how you can possibly wreck one just by starting it up & riding it a few miles. which is why i reckon this is something so simple you will feel like pushing a fork down your japs eye when you find it. these things have been around since the 70s and the design hasnt changed at all, the engine is solid. if you have managed to fk the crank i will bear my ringpiece on youtube. having said that i would be mighty pissed if i'd swapped it for my cbx then the arse fell out of it a week later lol ah, the innocence of youth.... you're new to all this crime sh*t aren't you! *btw elliot, please, we are joking.... please dont plan an insurance fraud on a public forum lol!
Hah yea lucky escape on your part! The mixture thing sounds like the right route tho so what do i check? just the Air filter and then the carb? Maybe even mess with the idle speed. Then finally check the choke cable Missed anything? EDIT: I was joking about my bike i love the old girl! Otherwised I'd have done it after crashing into that b*st*rd wall
yes, the sledgehammer & the cliff. :lol: check the air filter isnt soaked or fkt. try a different spark plug. (what you say is knocking might just be misfiring - it is a single....) when you start it up it runs on the mixture screw,,,, then the slow jet, then the main jet, restricted by the needle, less and less restricted as the throttle opening is increased, until top revs, full bore when it's on an unrestricted main jet. it clearly isnt getting that far. cg's dont like to idle with the choke on (read that site i linked to) you couldve very easily done this and flooded it, hence the carbon all over the plug. once the plug is choked with soot it with pop & misfire like a fker, especially as it doesnt have another cylinder to help it clear itself, which is why i suggest you try another (new) spark plug. i think this is the noise you can feel / hear. so, check the air filter, check the choke isnt sticking, by watching it's operation as you pull the lever / cable. change the plug. if none of the above sorts it out, then strip the carb & look for blobs of jelly like substance in the bowl, and any gunk blocking the main jet. but i think you will find its the spark plug if it is you owe me a sherbet dib dab and a can of lemon fanta.

Er my only day off this week and its chucking it down fml Ive reserved the spark plug at halfords and ill hopefully get a mate to go pick it up. Ill get my coat on now and check the air filter and choke cable :/ if i run in to problems ill pop back on here!
Right new iridium spark plug in and still fooked. Drove it round the block and on 1/4 trottle it will drive fine acceletates fine (albit it very slow) Anything more than 1/4 trottle and all power drops out and i hear a sort of banging misfiring sound. Was so tempting to drive it into a fucking wall. So filter has been checked aswell as spark plug and the choke cable.... I cant take the carb apart coz i have no idea how!
leave it til weekend & i'l come round & sort it m8 if u want... at least take a look & get a better idea whats up/
