With the new gen of consoles around the corner I wanted to see how you people who plan or think about buying the new xbox think about xbox's new Always-online DRM. This is a feature that means once every 24hours your Xbox will HAVE to connect to Xbox's servers VIA the internet if it dose not connect you will not be able to play any game even if it's a single player/offline game. Also there kinect which is always on and can not be turned off (unless via the plug) is watching and Microsoft are using it as a marketing device and will be watching, this system is also easy to hack. (this are proven facts before you think a company wouldn't do this they are and do)
Games Consoles = Sony. Desktop operating system = Microsoft. Phones/Tablets = Android. MP3 players = Apple. They're my rules and I'm sticking to them. PS4 will be a much better machine.
Your rules are flawed! Operating - apple Phones - apple Mp3 - apple After lunch - a bananna ! Steve Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
Not terribly happy about the constant connection. What if your internet is being upgraded for a few days? You won't lug your console around to someone else's house just to say "yep i'm still here" Daft move, Microsoft. Daft move.
I don't know why people are kicking off about the constant internet access tbh. Unless of course, you don't have the internet or your internet is unavailable/slow. My 360 is always connected to my router, so whenever I turn it on, it connects to the internet. No biggie really. Its a 'good' move towards stamping out piracy in consoles, the risk of turning your console into a giant paperweight will be too great to gamers to consider hacking them. I don't like the idea of having to pay a fee to activate 2nd hand games or play a game I borrow from a friend or take to a friends house. I don't have kinect on my 360, but if I had it, again I don't see the issue with it being connected. I really can't see Microsoft watching people playing on their 360, the repercussions to this would be devastating to Microsoft. I'll compare the PS4 to the one later in the year to decide which I'll be buying next year.
Well according to statistics, games with DRM are the games most pirated,Also gamers don't like the fact we can't play an offline or single player game without being conected to the internet,as sooner or later, that internet will go down. Take one of the newest PC games to have always online DRM,Simcity. In a year or 2 E.A (winner of the golden poo award for sh*ts compony) will shut down the servers to the new Simcity forcing people to buy a new game, the point is your only temporarily allowedto play the games you buy, sooner or later the servers get shut down and you lose your game.
You'd have to be crazy to buy an Xbox one. Internet every 24h? Camera hardwired? And from a company recently blown out the water for joining prism? No way in hell. And then you get onto the point of no used games or sharing hahaha Sony destroyed them. I'll probably stick to PC and buy a console in 2014. Still hilarious to watch though. Be good to see how Microsoft try and make up for it.
Don't get the issue with the camera being plugged in all the time if people are worried about Microsoft spying either turn it round facing the wall or a bit of gaffa tape will sort it out Sent from my Nexus 4 through bumblebees radio
I'm am Xbox guy but the new features are off putting, why should I have to be connected? And if I'm not online for 24 hours games get blocked.... Ps4 seems better especially the fact I can go to my mate's and share a game without paying a fee. Also is doesn't have a camera constantly on watching me wank. Plus it's cheaper. Ok I've watched both press conferences now, and Sony seem to trying a lot harder to appeal to gamers on a level they know and understand are are used to ie Disc based media and buying lending and trading games where as Microsfot are trying to push a "new way" ie you by and own the licence and not a physical product. Ok so it's not a radically new thinking, current gen consoles have been offering this in one form or another for a few years now, you can go onto Xbox live or the PSN and pay for and download a title, play it but you don't own the physical disc. What Microsoft seem to trying to do is make the choice for us, where as Sony aren't. Personally I don't like the idea Microsft making decisions on my behalf, and would much sooner buy a PS4, which is cheaper and gives me more choice, or at least the illusion of choice.
For anyone who's intested. Looks like Microsoft are backing down!! We will be able to buy lend and resell games just like we do now http://www.mcvuk.com/news/read/xbox-one-will-revise-controversial-games-plan/0117369
Good move Microsoft. I may actually consider the One now. The joke on the net is that to get to the Xbox One, they started with a 360 and took 359 steps backwards! Sounds about right!
I was planning on buying one anyway I like forza too much, them backing down just made it easier. Still, PS4 is going to the console to have over the next couple of years Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2
It must be an age thing but I have no idea what your on about. Once I get my lads controller surgically removed from his hands I will ask him about whats going on. Sent from my GT-S5570 using Tapatalk 2
Ive got both and will probably always just have both. Cant remember when I last played either though, nothing game wise seems to be catching my attention. I do occasionally play something though just to remind myself that somewhere on whatever game I pick to play a 12 year old will smash me!!! Online gaming, so much fun hey Would not have bought XboxOne though without the U-turns. Purely because Im an occasional player and I buy 2nd hand games.
I wont be buying either probably, true pc gamer and normally wont even consider anything else... althou I did get a Wii just cause there fun
