    You could give this place a go;
    http://wefixconsoles.com/

    They are based in Lpool and do repairs for GAME on there second hand stuff. I work for CeX and the guy came in trying to get the contract for our repairs, BUT all our stuff is done centrally out of H/O in Watford.

    You cant just change the drive unfortunately. You have to flash the firmware on it or your xbox wont recognise the drive. However a way around this is to buy the same model drive (this is important as xboxs have been shipped with a few different drives over their history) and just swap over the printed circuit board from your old drive. Just a couple of easy solder joints.

    I can help you with this if you need it as i did it on my sons xbox.

    What Chris said is true.

    It is possible to get a piece of software called "Jungle Flasher" But out of the (roughly) 5 or so times we've had one at the shop, only 1 has ever worked. Probably doing it wrong, but the easiest way is definitely swap out the PCB from the exact same model drive.

    Back in my nerdier days I used to flash xboxs for use with pirate games, always found the BenQ drives to be the best so if you do swap it go for one of them, it's all easy but you do need a few tools for the job (to load/unload data packets to the drive).
