Hi all still can't get xbox(360) live via my vista wireless laptop. Can anybody help PLEASE??!!!!!!!    :x :x
If your trying to route it through your laptop/desktop do you have ICS (internet connection sharing) turned on?
My router is upstairs and xbox downstairs in a rented hse so can't really go round putting holes in floors or walls. I had it working for about 2weeks in feb then didn't play on it for abit and since then it won't connect.
yeah it says it can find the ip but dhcp servers doesn't same to connect. Its all over my head really.
Press Start Goto Control Panel Goto Network and Sharing Centre Goto Manage network connections Right click on the connection used by the BOX Click on Sharing tab Make sure that allow other network users can connect through this connection is ticked.
You will need to bridge the connections on your laptop Start > control panel > network connections Manage connections link on the left of that screen You will see your wireless card and your wired connection select them both, either click and drag over them, or click one, hold CTRL and click the other Right click one of them and select bridge connections It may take a while to do it the first time, 5 mins + so go get a brew or something Once done, reboot open internet explorer and check laptop is connected, if it is you should be sorted Done the exact same process on a mates PC using VISTA having the 360 wired to the PC and sent to the router using the PCs wireless Works fine Laptop will have to be on to allow connection though, obviously. If you go the wireless route for your 360 if you have an older router it may not work with the 360s wireless adaptor. Mine didnt (router is about 5 years old), i ended up running a wire down to the router in the end.
sucks... All i can think of doing is to either move the 360 close to the router temporarily and directly link it to the router using the wire, or buy a long network cable and try it direct to the router that way You have tested the network cable and that it works? It will have to be a crossover cable, not straight. <-- important!!!! Vista should handle a 360 connection with no real hassle. It was a PITA with XP, but i managed it no probs with Vista You checked on the MS site for help? The 360 gives you the address when it fails to connect
Nope, 360 autodetects. What's your router IP? 192.168.0.1? When I was using ICS I had to change the routers network IP's as it wanted 192.168.0.1 for itself, the greedy bitch.
