Bike broke down today, just made some strange noises then cut out when i pulled over, and then wouldnt start after it. Its got plently of compression and the plug is sparking nicely. The plug was covered with carbon telling me Fuel/air mixture is wrong; airbox could be blocked; and ive been riding with the choke on alot, which i have as it stalls at lights without it. (mint bike) When i put teh plug in and kick it over a bit and take it out there isnt much fuel on it, maybe there is no fuel getting in. Any ideas? Cant wait for my ZXR to work i tell thee.
lol scott - u use it aswel!! ha as for the problem, what exactly did the sound sound like - when it turns over now does it sound normal but never catches?
Thought it take a look at the piston and barrel just to make sure its alreet.. And it isnt. :clap: There is also i nice chunk out of the powervalve too were its smacked it one (somehow). Found the chuck of piston and some of the piston rings in the exhaust.
unlucky mate, piston ring must have nipped up and took a rather large piece of piston with it, new barrel,piston and powervalve ftw! hope you get it sorted and back on the road asap
been there scot with my old rs 125 when the piston melted lol.it looks like the bike must of been running too rich or the 2stroke pump may be fucked have a look las
I was messing with the mixture about a week before it happened so im guesing its to do with that My mates lending me his ZXR400 till hes passed his test or ive fixed my ZXR so im not bikeless
