Just noticed that when my front wheels straight, my handlebars aren't. There's not much in it but I reckon they're off straight by about 5 degrees.

So, how do I fix it? Is it something I can do at home or is it a job best trusted to men with bigger spanners than me?

the forks are in line then ? when this happens on your push bike you just grip the wheel with your knees and pull on the bars ..bit different on a motorcycle ..it needs sorting pretty quick though

Forks look fine, I've had the bike for 4 years with no drops so don't think its a serious problem like bent forks. Just needs the yokes lining up properly?

if you think it may just be twisted forks or something throwing out the allignment, have a look at this

That video is spot on, just what I needed. Think my spanners are big enough to handle it! Cheers guys

The bottom of the forks are independent to the top tubes in the respect of they will both spin round when the wheel is removed if you turn them.
You can also push them up and down independently with the wheel off.
So undoing the wheel spindle ,mudguard is pointless is it not ?

I have done this at the road side. Slacken the bottom yoke and knock the wheel against a lamp post to jolt it back in line. Like the extra detail in the video though.

    You could try this:
Loosen top yoke pinch bolts on top of each fork.
Put front wheel on full lock
    Kick front edge of tyre/wheel
If your lucky it will move slightly
    Or
Loosen bottom yoke pinch bolts and do the same

Don't loosen all yoke bolts together or bike will drop through forks!
