lol who says it needs a inspection? news to me?

when they do inspections (on cars anyway) they are more concerned about where the parts came from and if jobs have been done - not the actual quality of the work.

never heard of a bike needing an inspection after a cat c.
maybe after a cat B if you were intending re-registering it???
bikes afaik do not need a VIC after being written off.

so who told you this & what did they say exactly cos tbh i think theyre chatting sh*t.
just reapply for v5 and away you go. if it already has mot you're good to go.

I think you will find it needs nothing as artin says cat d or c just requires you to make it road worthy and insure and tax then ride away. :D Happy days.

insurers are cocks though. if you go to a vosa station with your bike they will politely tell you to fk off.
they dont do a bike inspection.
by all means take it for a fresh mot but you are not legally obliged to.
you can get a cat c just by bending a can & cracking a fairing panel - hardly makes a bike unroadworthy.

most mot places wont even have the facilities to properly inspect a bike, they will just do a regular mot. they arent going to start taking the fairings off and checking for alignment etc.

proof of the pudding will be when you take it out on the road. without stripping it down completely & inspecting yokes etc, you will not know if theyre bent.
but you will when you try cornering on it.
if theyre bent you will find it will corner great one way but not so great the other. and also may be hard to remove & refit the front wheel spindle.

if your insurers fk you about just use a different insurer.
you will probably find that if you have to fill in an online application, where it says has the vehicle been recorded as a write off or import, if you tick yes, when you come to the submit bit, it will tell you they cant insure it.
smile & wave. theres plenty out there who will welcome your business. :)

tbh i think they asked for a vic and poss an mot even though the bike is just over 12 months old.
didn't pay much attention though as soon as they said about vic.

yeh its different for cars m8, but as said, theyre more concerned about the origin of the parts, whether theyre stolen or if it's a ringer / cut n shut job.
    will cost u £20 for a new v5, thats all :)

The bike does not need to be roadworthy ie can go on a trailer for a vic check all it's for is to see if the bike is the bike it is ment to be ie not a ringer or cloned.

It just means you need an MOT to go back on the road. When my bike was written off (cat D) less than a year old, it needed an MOT to go back on the road.

Depending on your MOT tester, depends on how thorough they are, but as with any MOT, it's not a test of the vehicles mechanical soundness, just that it conforms to the regulations for MOT.

The vic check is just to make sure the bike is the bike it is ment to be you can take it on a trailer and have it done but you wont get a v5 till you have done this or you can insure it take it for a mot and take it to them riding it and than go and tax it with the cert they give you job done you than get the v5 in the post
