f*ck pinlock, theyre shite. i dont use them any more. next time youre in j&s, on the front counter for a fiver - bob heath visor spray awesome stuff. does not fog up at all and rain runs off the outside, leaves the visor cleaner than you thought possible, best fiver you will spend
got 3 lids with pinlock inserts.... 4 if you count the arai on the raid 2's the insert is right in the line of vision and gets on my nerves. you end up with a tiny viewing window with mist all round it. on my other shoei it still mists under the pinlock regardless how its adjusted. and theyre too dear. and you cant clean them properly or they fk up. one good spray with the bob heath stuff and its clear for days, can ride with visor down all the time when its cold. and see through the scratches. get some. you will be converted.
sorry not the inside have some bob heath stuff i'd fogttten about, but on the outside, just old,not me the visor.
What about using some helmet polish? I bought some ages ago and it works a treat. Be aware that modern visors have a protective film and if you polish it, it could destroy it. Then again if its already scratched you've got nothing to lose.
+1 for the Bob Heath spray, been using it for years and a small can lasts ages! Never tried it on the outside of the visor though, will give that a go. Just off topic though, been using a product called Rain x on the cage windscreen, don't really use the wipers anymore the rain just flys off, anyone know if they make something similar for bike visors? Don't really want to put it on incase it wrecks it.
couldn't agree more ! the best thing to do is wet some grade M2 sandpaper for 10 mins and rub it well into the face of the visor....it will be well fucked now so bin it and buy another i know a guy who needed one a few years ago he went to a shop that sold the same lid and it was on display. he took the new visor off popped it on his and left !!! !!!
well believe it or not he lived in LEIGH !!! he was a builder ! we nicknamed him BATMAN cos he never left the building site without ROBIN !
Ta for the tips folks, will be trying toothepaste, solvol autosol, brasso,t.cut and furniture polish will let u know if any of them work.
Yeah, there is a similar product for visors called Worth. I think you can get it from Demon Tweeks. Just a small bottle but last for ages. It works really well.
Try Peek, it's like Autosol but not so abrasive. For instance, if you use it on Chrome, you don't get those fine swirly marks.
I have a small amount of Peek in the shed, I'll give that a go if you reckon it's good for the outside of the visor?
I used in on my screen, it had some pretty bad scratches, it brought all of them out apart from a really deep one. Its not a substitute for a new visor, but it will be better than looking through scratches until you change it eh?
