Maybe, just always wondered that. If the the tread is legal and above then what's the big deal? Can't say it's 'too corse' and ruins the roads as I'm pretty sure 40ton trucks have roughly 2.5t per wheel and with rock hard compounds they'd chew more up. Yanks my chain how bikers are bastardised by the government and 'E' markings. Sorry for the post hijack :/

Eye, mine was MOT'd with slicks on just before I bought her. Got Sc2 and Sc1 compound corsa's on now though-sure they're fine
Marked "not for highway use" on sidewall by manufacturer. Quite possibly for the same reason that racers change tyres when the track dries out; use wets on a dry track and you'll shred them to bits in no time.
