Hi people. Gave my GS a proper check ove yesturday and im having trouble understanding tyre pressures.....what I mean is my haynes manual says the front tyre should be 2.25bar and the rear 2.50bar; yet when I took mine the fron was aprox 1.6bar and the rear 1.3bar!! The tyres themselves look well pumped up and the bike does not feel like it is trying to fall over when ridden but I am abit worried that the tyres could be underpressured?? Another problem are the valves - both do not look in the best condition so I suppose it is possible these are faulty. Do these suggested tyre pressures by haynes sound correct? Could anyone point me in the direction of another site or some advice?? Many Thanks for your time and happy new year to you all.
Not too sure about what "bar" to pump them too, but around 33psi for the front and around 36psi for the back. I'd probably look into getting your valves replaced aswell if you haven't already.
Thanks for the response. The bike was only serviced about a month ago and he never said anything to me; the valves arent knackered enough that I cant pump the tyres up but I was struggling to get a reading on my little pressure guage so maybe I was not pressing hard enough. Cheers James
if the tyre pressures are low then the bike wont want to corner, you will find your self having to counter steer alot more than normal and you wont have any confidence at all my tyre pressures are 36 front and 41 rear in p.s.i. it should say your pressures in your motorcycle manual
Any one have any idea what mine are on cbr400rr? BT90's? I dont have manual, nor can I find an online one!
I never got a manual with the bike so only got my haynes - im just abit lost as the bike seems to corner ok for a GS but the pressures seem low??
I have a '99 GS and don't know about Bars but Paul was right around 33 and 36 psi, mine was on about 20 in each when I got it as it had been lying for a while.
Bit snowy at the moment so the bike is staying put but when the weather is ok im guna get the bike out and pump the tyres up! Tried the other day and I think they are in need of air.
