Managed an extremely uncharacteristic 7am start on Saturday and got up to the Dales and back for lunch. Well worth the effort as I pretty much had the roads to myself Managed to get a few pics too. Trough of Bowland: Yorkshire Dales (around Hawes).
Thanks dougall. Though it should look mint considering it's only done 4500 miles. Even so, it's done a Winter's worth of commuting, and you'd never know. Can't fault the materials and build quality.
Great photos Alex.I noticed your using them single track gravel strewn back lanes again mate lol.Your next bike should be the bmw gs1200.When its abit warmer I`m going to do alot more early starts up that end.
Watch this space Darren: I've bought a second standard pair for £25 and I'm going to de-cat and re-core them. Just need a few more bits and some tools
I did this on my second Tuono Alex, there is a kit available on line and it allows you to shorten them some 4 or 5 inches, don't forget once it's done you need to get a dealer to put the cdi into the 2nd map or the fueling will be all over the place. Can't wait to here it .
Well done on getting out of bed for once  Makes a change from our usual summer conversations? CS: "fancy an early run tommorow? Doing family stuff in the PM" FYS: "Hmm. Text me about 11"
Thanks Daz. This is the process I planned to follow. If I can access a good metal saw to neatly and accurately cut down the sleeves, I may also shorten them by 4-5 inches, as suggested. The result looks pretty much what I'd expect to see in an Akra race can. How hard can it be?
Bike is looking sweet fella, I guess having a go on mine helped with the decision to buy ? I have de-cored a set of 2004+ pipes myself, its hard work to get out the cat core.. hope ya got some strong tools lol They were so loud my right ear had dry blood in it I had 2-2 akra front headers on too.
Certainly did. As did the experience with the Falco. I've always found the engine to be an absolute peach in its various incarnations. As you say, bit more civilised than your model. Still, bonkers in a ride to work package. Perhaps you'd like to do another pair? I'll bring them over
was just the other day that I binned the paper with the core measurements on it >.< Don't mind giving you a hand though if ya want! Word of caution.. wear a mask.. I defo getting cancer before im 40
Don't worry about 40, that's 'yonks' off. I'll be dismantling them this weekend hopefully, and having a go at attacking the cats: Think they're a little bigger (fatter) in the standard cans than the 'Aprilia racing' version you have (note the bulge in the 'link pipe' section on mine, absent on yours). Not sure whether that's likely to make it easier or harder, but we'll see when I get them open. Still need the core tubing and wadding. Was going to see if MTC would just sell me some of the stuff they have on the shelf, and maybe cut it to length to save me the job. Otherwise, just need a rivet gun to put them back together, and maybe someone to spot weld the core to the end caps (though not essential).
