So I am stuck on the fence with this one... I am currently lending JimmyTanko's trailer off the forum.. its a single bike trailer and with no disrespect to him its seen better days. I have plans to convert it to a half box trailer. My idea is to home weld 4 structural square box metal pipes in the 4 corners of the trailer, then cross hatch wire fence the outside.. Drill wooden fascias into the posts and spray/paint & decal the trailer up in team colours. The trailer is £100 to buy and i have it in storage already so just need to pay. The poles and wood would come to about £30ish and the welding and work is free at my mates workshop garage. Looking on ebay and your looking at a little bit more than £100 for a decent one and i quite like the challenge of revamping his.. your thoughts and anyone who is any good at this type of stuff your welcome to come round and get your weld on? haha
Team colours? Lol. Josh. Im trying not to be negative but the best way to promote yourself is let your racing do the talking. Team liveried trailers, grid girls, blah blah.
Why on earth would you want to do that mate, the end result would look horrendously Heath Robinson - functional but not very professional looking. I think @ExOldRacerGit idea of a small panel van (with signage to your liking) and a single trailer as in the picture above would be the most professional looking outfit.
At the end of the day @lee when small companies look at my page.. And they are already as I've had queries on prices etc etc.. I want to look as kitted out and professional as possible.. So team trailers and shiny bikes will help that! And I'll try my best to let my results talk for me too
Great my friend, shaved 8 seconds off from session 3 to session 6 was wet in the first 2 sessions, out on supercorsa's hahaa, and dry in the afternoon, good all round day, no issues with the new bike and managed a bit of knee dragging for the camera !
Ok. Well I would leave the trailer as is. Its not going to look professional enough. Then there is the cost of painting and sign writing. Now my last word on this. How are you going to pitch yourself to all these eager sponsors? Have you deffo got the budget and motivation for a full season? Can you have race weekends off from the new job? Cos we have been here before iirc?
Would be doing it all in my mates workshop FREE. We are working on an advertisement plan already, going okay, got a couple of Yes's for 2015 already. About 1 third of the way into the budget for next season after buying the racebike, will be fine come May i'm sure i work a 25 hour a week job so i have loads of time off, rota's 4 weeks in advance, 29 members of staff... 1 weekend off a month is easy Hope this answers all your doubts
8 seconds dropped in best lap time between 3rd session and 6th.. was doing 2:06s flat in the last session.. no where near race pace yet like
Mini-Twins are pulling 1.13s on the coastal circuit.. What circuit were you riding? Is it a 400 or 600 your on?
Agreed. Tyres and fuel, a lot of fuel if you are going to be heading all over the country. Spend a few hours on google maps working out how far you will be travelling to and from each circuit, then add 15%. Then you have bike fuel to consider.
your looking at between 1.34-1.37's for formula 600 international circuit.. so im 32 seconds off race pace... got a lot of work to do before the new race season pal! im not racing at anglesey like but still
So it went great? I take it you mean apart from getting smacked in the face by Bob. From what can see you're burning a lot of bridges, and from the way you've put it in your original post I wouldn't be surprised if Jimmy has just joined the list of people that think you're arrogant. Especially when at the moment, you are not placed to be arrogant in any way! I'd simply get yourself kitted out with the basics, good tools, transport (doesn't matter how your bike gets there) and use your money for everything else rather than trying to be flash and claim brilliance. Dougal: That fairing suggests it's an old G2 (600cc)
