when warm, around 1200rpm. if its idling higher than this.

Warm up engine, take it out for a blast or somat. Turn engine off

Adjust turn the idle screw clockwise around 1/8th of a turn, start up - check idle

Adjust until uve got it how u want it

Personally, i prefer a higher idle of around 1500... suits my riding style alot better

mine ticks over at 1000rpm, wonder if thats why it occassionaly cuts out at junctions?

where does one adjust the tick over on the ZX-9R?

How much would you expect a garage to charge to make sure your engine is set up right?

I can do it for you if u want.

1200/1500 rpm, again depending on ur riding style.

yes, 1000rpm will cut out when u roll to lights after chopping throttle (too much fuel, not enough rpm to burn it)

7r and 9r have common sub 3000rpm issues, can be solved with work and float bowl mod

its located on the left side of the bike, usually just above the front sprocket, its a small cable with a nob on the end.

    clockwise increases rpm at idle
    anti-clockwise decreases rpm at idle

thanks mate, i'll have a try this weekend & try not to make it worse.

The sub 3000 issue you mention, would that be the roughness when trying to cruise say..... at a constant 30mph? i hate that! i thought it might be due to throttle being almost fully off?

    hi lel

call into a dealer they will tell u

or just adjust it your self after you have been out for a ride

mine ticks over at 1250rpm ish but it all down to how old your bike is u can set ur self m8 shouldnt be more than 1500rmp unless your a traffic light king

got nothing to do with the throttle.

Air and fuel mixture is rough under 3000 revs due to kawasaki emmisions material.

Doing floatbowl mod, then changing the jets/emulsion tubes in your carbs gets rid of this for an idle to redline clean burn!

30mph pootling along is choppy at best due to the emmisions crap

Crap! should have known it would not be simple :( it really spoils the ride, thats why i never cruise. Damn Kawasaki :x

It is simple, float bowl mod is done in 5minutes.

I've done it to all 3 of my zx7r's, it will improve it with just this alone.

Will also increase the midrange power.

This may interest you, things like Ignition advancer will increase that "Snap On" power feeling!

You have alot of tools don't you? If your handy with a spanner then get your hands dirty.

  17. Guest

dont mind getting my hands dirty but wouldnt want to risk getting it wrong as i would want it to be the best it can be. do you know of any UK sellers doing these kits?

just realised it wont fit. one is for 2002/2003 & the other is for 2002 only. although my bike was first registered in March 2002 it was biult in December 2001 so is actually a 2001. :(
