this winters upgrades for the r1

as soon as i get a day off i will be pulling the engine out and taking it it to pete at otc for the head refresh and fitting of a low compression gasket and adjustable cam sprockets...cant wait to hear the new turbo which looks big enough to suck in a small child...the birthday bunny got me the injectors and santa got the rest..i must have been a good boy

Ned what are you expecting on the hp front? I'm assuming your putting an extra head gasket on to lower compression?

Ned I really want a go to feal the power mate, I've ridden an r1 with 205 bhp at the back wheel but I reckon yours will be a hell of a lot more. :wub:

this head gasket is a purpose made turbo one .its 1.7mm thick and reduces comp to 9:1.it makes 216 bhp at 5 psi at the moment.with the gasket fitted i will run about 8 psi giving about 250 at the wheel which i think will be plenty powerfull enough...any more hp than 250 will need forged rods and piston which i cant afford at the mo..i have thought about a quick shifter but then i wouldnt get that swooshhh chatter from the dump valve on gear changes..thats the best bit

 

sh*t a brick! does it run fine? i saw a busa a few years back with a blower on it, i think the guy had a mental problem though haha. Also seen a goldwing supercharged which was eating up a ferrari @ santa pod

 

yes mate it runs great and idles like it should ..no flat spots which is common with carbed turbo bikes..rides like a normal bike up to 5k then the turbo starts to spool up and it gets a shift on 3rd gear torque wheelies at 90mph are a scream...the turbo started smokin recently so a rebuild is in order

 

That looks a big turbo, is there any dump valve going in??
