    Been a bit busy lately.
Picked up a Triumph Trophy in British Racing Green (BRG) last week and have been working on it most evenings.

Bit of history on the bike (that I know) a local guy bought it in 2006 had it for 3 months then lowsided it on the left which was fine till it stopped.
Unfortunately what stopped it sliding was the front end of a truck.:bag:
He decided to give up and sold the bike to a neighbour who put it in his garage with his other Trophy and that is where it stayed for 8 years.:bang:
I've bugged him every year to buy it and had just about given up when he relented.
Picked it up last Saturday looking like this, no cleaning has been done.

As you can see it's pretty clean for a 20 year old bus.
Have done myself a work plan to keep in some sort of order.
    1, Mechanicals.
    2 Body work.
3 Final fit and small parts.

I know it has a fuel leak from the petrol tap so ordered repair kit.
Then set to with stripping the bodywork off.

Still nothing frightningly obvious that needs losts of work.

    Tbc....

Parts needed to get the bike in running condition and able to nip up the road were first on the list. So got hold of a fuel tap kit, throttle tube and switches, front master cylinder and lever and a battery.

Also found a tank side panel and nose fairing for a good price.

As I knew the carbs would be in a mess due to evaporated fuel gunk, it's what killed the fuel tap as well, I set to to strip clean and rebulid the carbs.
    Gunk on tap diaphram.

    Carb cleaning in progress.

Reassembled the carbs and refitted without air filter (to check for flooding) fitted new battery, primed carbs and hit the starter the motor fired up after a couple of turns, was a bit lumpy but some tweaking identified #1 cylinder not up to scratch, checked with carb cleaner. Blasted some more cleaner in the carb air ways and left overnight.
Meanwhile the master cylinder and throttle tube turned up so thought I'd do the brakes. As the bike has been standing for 8 years I was expecting a rebuild so thought I'd take a look first so pads out....

Looks a bit gunked up, quick blast with brake cleaner and...

Looks perfect, so a bleed of the brakes and a good lever was the end result.

Also did a restart and after some more carb cleaner #1 kicked in and stayed running, motor is sweet but the carbs could do with a balance.

Today was a a good clean underneath and around the bike then sprayed over with some inhibitor.

Tomorrow the bike will move under it's own power for the first time in 8 long dark years.:)

I'm hopeing to have it MOT ready possibly by next Friday.

    Umm, tempting.

Yesterday I did a bit more cleaning of years of gunk, exposed some more Triumph logo's
Today I refitted the airbox and intakes, I might add the carbs had been fitted incorrectly as the airbox stubbs were distorted. A soak in boiling water sorted them out.
Then balanced the carbs, finicky things these triples need to be spot on to prevent rough tickover.

As I'd done the bits to get it road running I thought why no and had a little blat up the road and back, pulls well for and old girl but failed the burnout test, it just pushed the front along the road.:bang: Plenty of torque then.;)

Back in the garage and stripped off the gear lever to straighten it, bugger it's cracked:bang:, I'll look for a new one then.:rage:

Greased up the suspension linkages, nice to have a bike from the days when they fitted grease nipples.;)

Fitted the replacement nose fairing frame, then opened the replacement bits that arrived on Friday. Tank needs painting so I'll strip it to bare metal and fill the small dink. Panels are in fairly good condition but I'm hoping my pet painter will be a good price so I'll do all the front part including the mudguard.

At least the parts list hasn't got much longer.

    Bit late on updates.

So this week I have only done a few bits as there is not much more to do.

First was sort the gear lever, it had a crack from the fall, this has been to work straightened, welded and the peg turned down and tapped to fit a taper head screw.

Next was start on the paintwork, first was strip the tank.

As it happens the original paint was fine and the stripper didn't touch it, so I left as was. Sanded and filled the small dints (top left above), primed cut back primed, cut flat and colour coat on.
Just need to 1500 grit sand it and then 3 coats of lacquer.

Also touched in the mudguard from this.

to this, needs smoothing and polishing later this week when it hardens.

Managed to find a decent pair of mirrors for a bargain, they arrived today.
Just need to find some longer length indicators and get some bar end weights now.
Looking good for MOT on Friday.

Found some indicators and bar ends this week so set to with the rebuild ready for MOT.
Not been a busy week really so left most work till Thursday night as I'd booked the MOT for Friday afternoon.:nails:

Fitted the front end new indicators mirrors etc.
Fitted the side panels and infils, I didn't change the tank as it still needed cutting and final smoothing. Had to make a few fine adjustments to the side panel brackets but they lined up spot on so was an easy job.

Loaded in the van and took for it's MOT, it passed with no problems at all.

Took it for a short run on Sunday and must say it runs a treat pulls great no issues with ride or anything.

Finished the tank off and fitted yesterday along with painting the centre stand, bar mounts and mirror mounts.
Still need to source something for the cans, haven't found a sleeve yet but I might give them the carbon treatment.

So here it is. Just final clean and polish to do.
