Thought I would post some road suggestions if people are up and around the lakes.

1: Starting from Carlisle travel west on the A595 until you get to Bothel and take the A591 toward Keswick,

See video (please note the video is taken from keswick to bothel)

Loads of fun in the summer just one problem the Sunday driver travelling round pointing at stuff, stopping with any warning !!! (rant over).

As you can see from the vid there a lot of over hanging trees that stop the sun drying the road, but its fine when its dry.

From Keswick after a pit stop had over towards Thirlmere over the top down in to Grassmere, a couple of bad corners and Large bumps in the road, so if your travelling at warp 9 be warned !!!

Carrying on you arrive in Ambleside , nice place to have a walk round, plenty of café ect…….. From there across to Windermere, join the A592 head toward Troubeck and up over Kirkstone Pass (PUB on the Top, the owners not that great with bikes from passed experience) From the top it’s a sharp drop down in to the valley with loads of twist’s (gives you a warm fussy feeling).

Travelling round the lake you pass through little villages and there’s place’s to stop and take in the view, at Glenridding you could take the steamer round the lake if your sight seeing !!!! http://www.ullswater-steamers.co.uk/tim ... ares.shtml

After you reach the other end of the lake you come to Pooley Bridge , where there’s some good Camp sites pubs and shops.

Take the A592 back to Penrith and back home !!!

Had some belting runs out up Cumbria this summer, stunningly beautiful place and awesome roads - apart from A66 being dull as and full of sunday drivers!!!
