    Hi
Im new here and this is my first thread apart from the intro one and I was wondering if any users could give me insight into proggressive springs

I drive a 2000 SV 650 and the front end is soft and not very cofiedence inspiring when I try and push on on tight twistys :( (I have to drop back from the guys I ride with mostly BMW's)

So im gonna change the fork seals soon cuz they have reached their limit and im gonna get some progressive springs. What I want to know is what are the best springs and oil combo. Also if you have done this mod give me your feedback etc

What I would like to know:
    Why you did the mod
What springs and oil you used (ie 10w etc)
    Your feedback thoughts advise etc

    Thanks Paul :D

    Ktec springs 0.8
    and a suitiable oil
Feedback - I like a very stiff front setup so i feel ever bump (others dont) means im able to slam the brakes on without unsettling the bike too much also....
The mod was done because the bike is or was a commuter by design and set to be as cheap and "comfy" as poss.... Suspension upgrades are a must.

Perhaps look into Maxton Front springs and emulators

Visit http://forums.sv650.org if you havent already, guys there are very helpful with suspension and engine modifications

I've got Maxton springs in my 600 bandit - I think they're basically the same forks as yours. As already mentioned, the standard springs are often quite soft (they were on my 600 and 1250), so I've got harder springs. Mine are 0.85 Kg / mm in the 600 ... although what you fit will depend on your weight and how you ride. maxton springs are linear, not progressive.

Stick with the 10w oil ... I've tested 10, 12.5 and 15 and for road use, anything over 10 starts to get harsh (especially with damper rod forks, which I think you have)

I used progressives in mine, but then changed to a Gixer front end lol.

Woody is right though, get over to the SV site for the best setup for that bike. Loadsa peeps have changed the front end and there's some great results to be had with new springs, emulators and the right oil.
