Started the freshen up of the SD this weekend.

Front wheel out for new bearings.
Swing arm and shock spring off for powder coating.
Chain and sprockets off ready for new.

General strip and clean all round is needed so will get on with that asap.

I'm sure to find more bits that need doing as I go on.

    Few more pics.

    Exhaust polished up.

Old sparkers out looking good though. Iridiums going in.

Valve clearances checked, inlets all at mid range exhausts just below top limit but not adjusting the exhaust vales as a larger side clearance is fine. Will check em again in 4.5K

how many miles are on the motor doofle? got me thinking about the valve clearances.
i should check mine really (its just on 10k now)
but tbh everyone ive spoke to says they have never had to adjust them until at least double this?

Just over 21K Lee, like I say clearances are still fine so will check em at the next 4.5k they might just need doing then. But given the lack of wear on the cams/followers it will prob go another 10k.

is it worth doing at my mileage you reckon?
ive only just done an oil service with all the screens etc. was planning on checking them at 15k.

They should be checked at 10k miles but TBH they should be fine till 15k.

Rad off job to do em so, best to check em whenever you fit new plugs. :D
