Okay, so I couldn't split the forks off,of my cbr so that i could change fork seals.

So I thought screw it, ill take the forks in hand to a garage.

The guy never rang me, so I popped in the next day and asked him how they are going.

He told me he cant get them out either, its getting stuck on the bottom bush. No shit :p

He has tried heat and told me he is leaving them soaking overnight in wd40, to see if it will budge, and that he will ring me tomorrow. Then had a little cry about how he has spend 2 and a half hours on just this first fork. Yet he hadn't touched the second one.

Surely he would attempt the other fork or at least get that soaking.. Not that wd40 is a penetrating fluid anyway *roll eyes*

So if he does complete the job ill be happy, i'm not sure how much im willing to pay.
He quoted me £65 for the whole job, but with his whining about time.. I am concerned he will turn around, maybe a full 360 degrees and fuck me with a big price. So what would you guys say its worth?

Do garages charge if they cant fix or complete the job?
Never really used a garage for anything in my life, always just learnt, bought the tools and done it myself..!

Tbh I just think he is being a bell, but ill give him the benefit of the doubt. Id hate to have to buy new forks..

I have one word for him....Plusgas....:palm: In my experience though ive never been charged for work that wasnt completed. Thats like a decorator not doing anything but charging you for a weeks work because he couldnt get the lid off the paint.

I had the same issue splitting the forks, took me two days and loads of sweat. It is just a matter of keeping at it. A large block of wood to bounce the two sections back together in order to start again is worth it as mine kept getting stuck on the bushes and were a bugger to slide together again in order to pull apart again................ does that make sense?

could you not drill a pilot hole in the oil seal put a long self tapper in and pry out the seal? thats what i would have attempted.

Yeah I slammed it back down to "reset" it and then held it in a vice and repeatedly pull-fcuked the thing like i was wanking off a mechanical elephant like my life depended on it..
I just thought that a garage would be able to do something that I couldn't do. Im going to invent a tool that does it like a massive bearing puller and make my millions :p

I found not putting it in a vice better just pulling apart VERY HARD AND QUICKLY then banging it on the wood to reset it.

Okay so they have gone racing somewhere, and the workshop is closed all this week. The guy in the unit next door but one told me as i pulled up. So ill have to wait another 5 days to find out if they managed to split them and do the seals or not.

Right so they still couldn't get them out.
Rang Berties bike breakers to ask if they had any forks in.
They said they do but they are a bit shagged - and asked what was up with mine.

They have offered to see if they can split mine; so I may as well.

I literally cannot find any cbr600f3 forks ANYWHERE for a reasonable price.
    £200+ people are wanting, crazy.

It took me about a week constantly trying to split them, they will come apart, but it is laborious. that is probably why the others can't split them, it takes time. I took them to two places who said that they couldn't do it, but I did eventually.

Berties rang and said that they had split them, the metal collars/bushes are fucked, but the fork lower and stanchion are fine.

Good news! When i pick them up im going to go on wemoto and order the bushes so that I can refit them and take some pics and add them to my build thread, that has been on hold due to me spending so long on these fkin forks.. lol
