Hello all, this Saturday I'm heading from Liverpool to Scarborough via Manchester (unfortunately) leaving Liverpool at 1130 and hopefully getting to manc about 12. But I'm after a decent rout non of this motorway all the way don't want to go squaring my tires off. Anyone who want to tag along more than welcome!
its a long ride if youre only setting off at dinner. dont forget your clear visor lol cos it will be a late one! expect youll get there 5pm lol then ride back. shortest route avoiding motorways from liverpool is 3 1/2 hrs but that doesnt take in all the nice twisties, itll be mostly A roads. if you want to go the scenic route its 5hrs easy not including petrol stops brews etc
ano but youre on a gs500 lol  wagon u dont need to stop every 100 mile to get fuel and blood back in your arsebone! just sayin, its a long ride there n back....
Don't go via Manchester that's not a good ride, go up the A59 to Preston then follow A59 all the way to York. And yes, it's a long ride be better to stay over
Been both ways. Taken the snake pass down in towards Sheffield and rode up , or has oliver says hit the a59 towards York ! Not that much in it mileage wise , but the A59 is a far better ride , more petrol stations and brew stops . Fair ride out that mate leaving at lunch time even for a pan European never mind a gs500 ! Respect I'm taking it your stopping over and having fish and chips. Do a detour on the way back . Ride over to where they filmed heartbeat great little place and the roads are made for .....erm....a gs500 ....round there
the a66 is even better imo, past hadrians wall etc - belting run. i like to go up through lancaster way through trough of bowland then high bentham through to the 59 then carry on north to the a66. lovely twisty roads but watch out for oncoming traffic thru bentham... can be a dangerous road. the 66 will take you halfway there
The A66 is marvellous at the Lakes (Bassenthwaite) end but p*ss boring at the dual carraigeway bit after Penrith. If you are stopping over look up Riveau Abbey, a few quids to get but a beautiful stop over that way
The gs has gone I'm on the zzr600 Meeting a mate in Manchester. May bin it and go for a blast round north Wales.
I agree, it's called Gothland, it's way up on the moors. Have a look in the garage at the Manx Nortons! The owner took me around the back and showed me his latest toy - Steve Plater's R1 from Macau
I suppose it might look dodgy if you miss off the last line? Maybe you really should go to Specsavers Cliff BTW.
