Who fancies a day trip around the Dales next Saturday? This will be Saturday unless it's a washout, in which case it could be postponed for Sunday.

    ROUTE: Dales Tour

A59 to Skipton, then North to Grassington and up to Hawes. A mish up the Buttertubs Pass and back to Hawes, Then down to Ingleton via the Settle/Hawes Road, to Caton, and then over to Clitheroe via Trough of Bowland and back down the A59. Almost all brilliant, quiet roads and beautiful scenery.

    PLANNED STOPS:

    A) Tickled Trout Filling Station, Preston. Arrive from 10am. Leaving for 10:40am.
    B) Large Lay By just shy of Skipton. Brief stop to get the group back together before turning off the A59.
    C) Rhylstone Village on the B6265. Nice village green and good cafe there for a quick brew/feed if youre hungry.
    D) Hawes Couple of good cafes for a brew. If youre not coming up the Buttertubs Pass youll also have time for some food.
    E) End of the Buttertubs Pass just a turning point.
    F) Ingleton Chance for a petrol stop if you havent filled up in Hawes.
    G) Caton Lay by usually full with bikers and a roadside cafe. 20-30 minute stop.
    H) Viewpoint on Trough of Bowland Quick stop. Great for a photo or two.
    I) Pub in the middle of the Bowland Forest. 20-30 minute stop for a refreshment/rest. Straight back to the A59 and Preston from there.

    AGENDA:

Meet at Tickled Trout from 10am, leaving for 10:40am. If you're coming along and you're running a little late, text me: 07799 072728

Everyone needs to fill up at the Tickled Trout, next petrol stop will be 80 miles away in Hawes, or 105 miles away in Ingleton, or 120 miles away in Caton. At Hawes, you can either chill out with a brew/beer and some grub in town, or come for a 20 minute mish up the Buttertubs Pass and back. It's well worth the effort, but if you don't like tight, twisty, cliff edge, seat of the pants roads you might prefer to have a bit of a rest in town.

Should finish up back at the TT for 5/6pm. Anyone in a rush to get back can head straight onto the M6 from Caton and get home a couple of hours earlier.

The Trough of Bowland route is absolutely stunning, but once again the roads are (at times) pretty narrow, twisty and bumpy (although almost completely deserted). If you don't like those kinds of roads, you may prefer to head back on the motorway. Just don't give me shit about it if you come along and don't like it :p

    GUIDELINES:

Since it's impossible for the front runner to keep count of lots of bikes, it's important to outline some basic rules. I'm sure most people (if not everyone) knows the score, but to clarify:

    1) If you lose sight of the person in front, always head straight on through any turnings/junctions. Someone will wait for you at the next change of direction.

    2) If you lose sight of the person behind and you're at a junction where the group has changed direction, wait until you see the following person behind before pulling away. You will be waited for in turn by the bikes ahead.

These two rules go hand in hand, and they make the whole thing work. Everyone needs to abide by them, and nobody will be left behind or lost.

There will also be 3-4 people familiar with the route making sure that everyone is in tow, and maybe a back runner at times. Directions will be made clear where possible.

    Great stuff.

Looks like it could be shaping up to be a pretty a quick run. I won't be going mental, but unfortunately with the best of intentions I'm afraid 125s could be too difficult to mix in without lots of stopages/complications (sorry lavinia :( ).

Haha :D You're welcome mate. None of us are 'exactly Rossi'.

If anyone tails behind, they'll always be waited for at the next turning/junction. Always ride at your own pace. No pressure to push yourself beyond your comfort zone - you won't be left.

125 or not, I think Lavinia could still come if we did it with proper corner marking and a tail end rider.

Re: Saturday 22nd May - Yorks Dales (All Day Run)

Mini P: I hate to be the bad guy, I really do, but unfortunately a 125 on this trip would (a) slow us down considerably and involve lots of waiting, and (b) massively increase the stress and effort involved with keeping the group on track and on direction. Personally I really don't want that stress: I'm more than happy to lead the way but I also want to be able to enjoy a great blast without having to worry about keeping together a group of very fast and (relatively) very slow bikes. Once again, I'm sorry Lavinia, it's absolutely nothing personal and I know it's shit but I have to be the bad guy here :(.

Just to whet peoples' appetites. Buttertubs Pass:

No apology needed from you Furyous, Lavinia already noted 125 is not quick enough, and I brought her back into the post with the piullion suggestion.
