Well then, better late than never,

Got there relatively early after staying up the road at a Travel Lodge. met up with team Gale, and Jon P (the boss). All got set up in garage 21, did the sign on bit and got all excited.

What is it about Rockingham that people don't like?? Lovely looking track, various layouts, excellent garages with loads of space. And reasonable prices.

Anyway gets signed on and goes out for the sighting laps, then we're off, well I would be if I had my Sat-Nav with me, talk about not knowing where i was isn't kidding, steams down the straight expecting an hairpin, but there was a bloody chicane there. This was going to be fun. Actually, yes it was going to be fun, I came in all giddy, really liked the place and the layout.

2nd session and I was feeling faster, and getting more Idea of where I was going and really enjoying the circuit, even pulled a great power wheelin in 2nd then 3rd with is so not like me. Even found a nice line through the last chicane onto the main circuit. What a lovely place,

3rd session and . Having a really good time, passing a fair few bikes, session almost over when just as I'm going down School straight the 2nd chequered flag come out, I'm still on a lovely hot lap about to drop into the last chicane when an R6 turns right on to the racing line pootling along as if to give High 5's............ This is where it all went wrong, braked as hard as I could then felt myself hit the deck, as the front tucked under. Tarmac sky tarmac sky grass, bang head bang head again roll over and over and over then finally stop. extremely winded and puffing and panting trying to get my helmet off. off it comes, check out to see where my bike is and that all my bits are still attached and working. fukking sore ribs seemed the main cause of pain. Ambulance comes and gets me, Marshals take my bike back to the garage for me and its the medical centre for me.

I would like to thank the Medical staff and the Marshals for an excellent job, I've even emailed Rockingham Raceway to say the same.

Damage to the bike is quite minimal to be honest, rearset bent but now sorted out. fairing smashed, but will be having a temporary repair ready for Oulton Park on Tuesday. Leather took another hit and need repairing again, gloves did an excellent job, and the helmet took two hits, one either side, so that is destined for the bin. White Aplinestars have black rubber marks all over them, but basically undamaged.

I ended up having a chest X-ray at Stockport and I'm currently taking Tramadol to relieve the pain to the ribs that are a tad sore still, plus my right knee is achin. has this made me think of giving up, yes it has, but I've got over that idea now and I'm looking forward to getting back out there on track. Forgot to say that I also drew bolld, in the form of a little graze on my left elbow.

Good report Baz, glad to see you are not throwing the towel in. Going to Oulton on Tuesday to watch, may pop in your garage and say hello. :D
