Road Rash antics on M62 this morning

This morning on my commute into work along the M62 I'm embarrassed to admit that I indulged in a spot of Road Rash antics.
I was in the middle lane of the M62, between junctions 7 and 8, heading toward Manchester when a large car (Mondeo or similar) in the outside lane decided he needed to be where I was due to the outside lane slowing down. The car started moving into my lane, indicator on, right alongside me.
He was halfway into my lane when I thought surely he must've seen me, so I sounded my horn.
What happened next was unbelievable, the car driver (male) starts gesticulating wildly toward me as though it's my fault - I can only assume he imagined I've tried to undertake him.
Anyway he continues to plough on into my lane (while still waving his arms at me), so I brake hard, nip into the outside lane and pull up beside him.
I point at his mirror and then back at him hoping he'll realise that he needs to use them in future...but he still continues throwing his arms out at me like I'm at fault.
What I did next was out of character for me as I am usually a peaceful placid man, but fuelled by this arsehole's lack of respect for other road users, I draw up alongside him and slap his mirror that it bends forward (I didn't want to break anything, just shake him up a bit), gave him the two's up and sped off.
By this point we're very close to other stationary traffic ahead, so I engage filter mode and continue on my way.

In hindsight I probably shouldn't have slapped his mirror (a kick would have been a far better option), and because I was so filled with rage, I occupied my thoughts thinking about my near miss for the next few minutes when I should've been concentrating on filtering safely.

Whilst on my commute along the M62 this morning, some cunt on a bike tried to undertake me, and then while i was trying to explain to him using hand gestures that it was very dangerous to undertake cars, he bashed my wing mirror and sped off like a chicken! No wonder bikers have a bad name!

At least you stayed the right way up mate. A close call, could have ended very different.

Had some bitch do exactly the same to me in rush on smithdown road this morning, trying to push her way infront of me across the lane. Couldn't believe it. I was there the whole time, riding conservatively at 30mph.

It's easy done and I've been tempted myself - car driving standards and habits are sh*te these days and I feel there is very little enforcement effort per driver these days (the focus is on auto-cameras for speeding, parking and bus lanes) - car drivers can drive around like that ad infinitum with little chance of being caught - you could go on all day really...

I know it's hard to stop the adrenaline, but literally ignore them - filter on and leave them behind - don't make their views relevant - that winds them up even more, especially when you leave them for dust - if I was commuting I'd also get a bike cam if you can afford it - a couple of mates on other forums had offs and their bike cam sealed the case against other drivers (driver pulled out on a roundabout etc)...

As a word of warning, a guy I know and a few mates were on their way to the St Anne's Bike meet earlier this year and some bloke in a car stirred them up with some really dodgy driving - they gave him the odd 'gesture' which inflamed him even more into tailgating and then at a set of lights he got out with an axe and chopped it right into one guys fairing - they 'overwhelmed' him and threw his axe in some bushes, but imagine that if you were on your own - there are a lot of unbalanced people out there !!!!

On a final note, I bet it felt really good slapping his mirrors in though !!!

It's easy to lose site of rational thought when the red mist descends, I'm not condoning or defending what you did, but I do understand why.

    I'm glad your alright

It certainly gave an immense feeling of satisfaction at the time! :)
But now that I've calmed down, I've realised I could quite easily have caught my bar end on his mirror and gone down myself :(

With age comes experience, guess I need to mature a few years more :D

In all seriousness i've been there done that and as others have said, i just either get past them and leave them well behind, or just drop back a bit and if i happen to filter past them futher up the road i might clip the wing mirror then ;)

So you place yourself in a shit position.
A driver makes a shit manoeuvre.
You have a shit reaction that stirs to compounded a further shit manoeuvre from the other drive.
You then have a further shit reaction.
Decide to stir up more shit trying to scare the shit out the guy by being shitty to his mirror.
This has probably stirred up a shit attitude against motorcyclist that the rest of us will get shit for.
And you called me a shit stirrer.
I raise you calling me a shit stirrer and call you a hypocritical shit stirrer.

I had a little incident a while back, i believe i did put a post up about it. Followed a van down a road, normal 2 second gap, wasnt speeding and was, probably for the first time, riding sensibly. Man in his vans slams his anchors on, that much so smoke come from his tyres. He then proceeds to put it in reverse and without a single look behind him comes reversing back toward me at full speed. Literally just managed to accelerate and move out of his way quick enough, his van scraped my leg as he went past. He then gives me the V's because i beeped and revved at him and pointed at his mirrors. He then puts the van back in 1st gear and shoots forward going straight through a red light and just missing a car coming across the other way. I watched him park up and go into a shop (B&M)......

I don't remember quite what happened next but his van had a broken window 2 smashed mirrors and a few dents in the side of his van :)
