Anyone doing any rallies this year? What are your favourites? Or can't you be arsed with them? I've not done one for a few years now, NABD was the last one I did and it was really good, been considering doing it again this year, my mate went last year and it pissed down all weekend which spoilt it for him and that's what puts me off these days (It's an age thing), I used to go to the BMF one in Peterborough back in the 80's and that used to be a good one, I don't know what it's like these days though.
Quite fancy the idea of going to Tridays. It's a trumpet one where a town in Germany gets taken over for a week.
Used to go to NABD, Farmyard and some smaller ones but I'm fed up of them now - the bad weather, camping, portaloos, same music over and over. I prefer going on proper biking weekends where it's less boozing and more riding but it's hard trying to get a group together cos everyone has family or work commitments etc.
Yeah to be honest i couldn't think of anything worse. i like my creature comforts too much, and the thought of a wet tent and bedding, stinking toilets, noise and to make it worse - fecking rock music. what is it with the assumption all bikers like rock / metal ? Nah not for me, i much prefer somewhere comfy and to be able to plug my curling tongs in while listening to a nice bit of pet shop boys. That said the practical sportbikes / classic trackday weekends have been pretty epic. Kip in my tranny, loads of like minded other riders up for a weekend of having fun on track. If anyone has an older bike, they could do worse that get in on the PS weekend in May in anglesey.
I like rock but it's the same bands, same music every time and it's not the stuff I'm into - AC/DC, Black Sabbath etc, all before my time. But when you look around at the age of the people who go to rallies it seems to suit the majority. I'm too into my home comforts too though, like having a proper bed, TV, shower, flushing toilet and the little tea making station and shortbread biscuits you get in hotels
