When ever I set off after about a minute power dies off in top gear and the bike slows to a crawl.... So go down all the gears and away it goes again .

    Are you carb or injection?

Does it happen all the time or just in the last 1/3 of a tank?

Done chain and sprocket. Checked brakes not binding swapped out rear disc and put new pads in. Keep it running on 97 octane fuel from esso . Keep bike topped up to at least half a tank. Might have to just lay up the bike for another month till I can get some money to have it properly serviced and set up. As I cant get a new one I will have to just buy a cover for this and then get it sorted when I can afford it.
MY long trm plan is now for a full service ..swap fork springs and rear shock .. swap screen and end cans and then get each panel and the tank re sprayed. Put a full set of new disc on and rebuild the callipers and see if someone can breathe on it so it runs properly..... would rather sell it and buy something else but cant do that so have to just do what I can.

Sounds to me you have a air leak I'd lift the tank and check.nothing has come off the carbs. Then why your there check the filter

Hmm, with a car version, if they are anything like the carb Deauville, they have a really tacky fuel pump, as the lower part of the tank is lower than the carb inlet. At idle your voltage can be down, so the pump under performs, then you ride of under load and actually run out of fuel in one of two of the carbs.

Might explain the 120 mph top end limit as well.

Fuel starvation , check your tank vents or petrol vent cap seal, may bea vacuums... there m8tey, check fuel lines for
crap found therein .... drive chain issues give it a coat of whatever lubricant you use now and then.. good luck

As has been said, sounds like Fuel starvation.

The fuel isn't getting into your carbs as quick as it's being used hence the engine dies. Close the throttle and slow down and the carbs get chance to fill again. Check the fuel tap and/or fuel filter. Also as said the tank vent could be blocked causing the fuel pipe to collapse under a vacuum.

I had a similar problem in a car once. It ended up that the tank was full of rubber particles off a hose that some scrotes had left inside when they were trying to nick petrol!
The particles would block the tank filter when there was heavy fuel flow.
Might be worth a look at the tank, filter, pump and fuel line.
Did you buy any fuel from a small back street garage before the problems started? Could be dirty fuel has dumped some crud into the tank.
