did everyone get parcels they were expecting ? did the ones you sent get delivered? City Link went into administration on Xmas day !! of all days …… http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-30602326
Just surprised it took so long, I feel sorryfor those losing their jobs and all the subbys who won't get paid but they were an awful company and won't be missed by the rest of the industry.
No they went busy under rentokil and got bought out by a private equity company. The only intent was asset stripping so the shareholders will do ok if its been managed right.
I never had anything good happen with city link, I nicknamed it 'missing link' purely on the amount of things that didn't get delivered.

I'm just hoping that Rolex i posted to my brother on there insured post gets delivered ok ..or i might have to claim  I think that Hermes are shit too…..so slow
so this is the third time in a couple of years then? wonder who will buy them next? maybe yodel or myherpes will have a go at saving them!!
The name/brand might have some value but the infrastructure is 10 years out of date so nothing to save my company was destined for the same it seemed obvious to me so sold up and got out at the right time. Can't be anyone too switched on there not to see what was coming.
They've blamed "Changing customer and parcel recipient preferences" Apparently these days people prefer having their parcels chucked over their own fences not next doors. :roflmao::roflmao: Seriously though, what a shit thing to do, I bet they've had people working like dogs to get the Christmas rush done, knowing they were going to do this to them on Christmas day.
exactly …and as more than likely a lot of the couriers would have been self employed ..no money coming in for all that hard graft …makes ya piss boil doesn't it
Not good news for the employees. Some of you guys who put the delivery companies down need to try it for a living. It's not always the fault of the company who deliver the parcels. Have a look on your front door, is there a number, can it be seen easily? Is there a sign post for your road? Try delivering to a house with no name clearly seen, on a road with no name in the middle of nowhere, without some sort of clue how to find it. Before you say post code, my post code covers the whole village, about 45 houses, some of which are very well hidden. As for City Link, I wonder where they will be selling off the vans?
The self employed ones will also have a fuel bill coming in on their credit card for the last month. It used to be a bad month if I didn't put £500 in the tank and was on a bike. Those van drivers could double that and some. Although most subs are paid weekly, but still a week in arrears.
This is so true. We do pizza deliveries and it's unreal the number of houses that dont have a door number. Some times theres 5 or 6 in a row and you've got to walk down half a street before you find one. There must be hundreds of hours lost in a month as people try to find door numbers. It should be made law to display them.
