Just to let you all know I had a fantastic day out at Oulton Park in the novice group yesterday. Bike was completely road standard with all mirrors and lights attached and taped up, although I did run the tyres at 3 Psi below recomended. One arse clenching moment in the second session...ran wide at Lodge corner as I was watching what the marshall was doing on the outside of the corner...ended up on the grass but kept it upright narrowly missing the tyre wall to rejoin the fray. Didn't manage to get the left knee down yesterday for some reason...maybe I've a shorter left leg? Rights were no problem, knee down, foot down then peg down. Was a big crash in the final session at shell oils corner (Lovely cambered hairpin), 2 blokes in the gravel with a 3rd bloke sliding merrily on his arse with his bike spinning across the track in front of me...just managed to squeeze past spinning bike on my left and Aprilia rsv factory on my right.
I'm doing a trackday at anglesey on 17th July if anyone fancies it ? its the coastal circuit which is the one with the 'corkscrew'. cant wait !
sounds like you had a top day  but if you go to the tt every day is a track day but without the grass or gravel run off
i had a huge moment in decemebr at Lodge highsided and lost it but managed to run next to the bike and jump on poo poo moment for sure. Snapped the front forks on an R6 in 2002 at shell great corner crap if you get it wrong on exit. I love Oulton going next month on the RSV Factory to wear in the new knee sliders glad you had a great day just be careful its fookin addictive and really bad for the bank balance
Wallie, I'm there again on the 28th July with my mates from down South. Maybe we can all use the same garage at track? I would really like to flog my bike and get a track bike so I'm not always worrying about binning it.
Glad you enjoyed it! So easy to run out of track at the speeds that you get to, but you survived. No feeling like it. I toyed with the idea of binning road riding, but love it so much just cant bring myself to do it. I would love to do another one, but after a fecked up my last one in a cartwheelie sort of way i need a track bike, plus trailer, plus car to tow it...
we hire a van to take all the stuff you need down its so much easier, we will have to get a garage together pch1 yer, will have to get there early enough tho b4 all the garages get taken up then we will get split up
Wallie My two mates will be coming up with a van loaded with their two bikes, but I haven't arranged a van for myself yet? Have you thought about sharing the cost of a van?
interesting who is this day with i may get the tractor on track..... As for flogging road bikes to get track bikes, i did it and loved it but i just dont have deep enough pockets i did 30+ track days last year and all the oil and fule and tyres and track time cost over 5k plus the price of the bike, be warned it gets expensive and most the time a bike sits in the shed waiting to be used. anyway someone waana start a new thread about tis trackday?
Plonk myself in inters i think so i dont push to hard, i know karen and the guys well so if i need to move up i could do later in the day. i will start a new thread
