Weather has improved and I'm on the fence about booking my first proper track day. Only thing that's putting me off a little is going on my billy.

Anyone else going that day even just spectating willing hang out with between sessions?

ha ha fair one Rich, although how can you get bored of Oulton??? But I understand not wanting to push on when its your road bike.

The 1098 will be on track for sure, first run out is in Jerez, all going well and she returns in one piece i will be booking her on for Oulton Park asap.
She is being pampered by Rich at Moto-R right now, pick her up early next week.

BIKE mag do a road bike only around July but it sells out months before so book early look for MSV Bike Mag Reclaim our tracks ….novice group is normally fine and If you have not been onto the tack before its were you start….the problem lies when the novice group sells out , So some of the faster lads who want to be on book into that group….thats ok to a degree as they are experienced …but when they come past you at speed it can make you nervous etc …..

The BIKE mag road bike day is just that , Ride to the track ,no trailers , tyre warmers ,generators etc …just road legal bikes with number plates and lights

    You will love it….enjoy

Road Bike only days are good, but remember you HAVE to ride it home!!

It's a long day you NEED to be there usually no later than 0730hrs, factoring in travel time its a early doors rise.
It can be knackering physically and mentally and that is not good for the ride home usually between 1700-1800hrs by the time last session finishes and which group, factor in crappy weather and it can be a gloomy ride home.

Last track day I did the rain started in the final session and then chucked it down as we finished (happily we got the most of the day dry), couple of lads were riding home to DERBY from Oulton Park, I genuinely felt for them as they sat off. Bike loved in to van, dry return home!

Not sure the rules say you can't turn up with your road bike in a van, on track its ROAD bike only. I would double check and if allowed and you can do it VAN / Trailer it....

Make sure you have db killers in if your can is over 102db or you WILL NOT get on track. Make sure you get your tyres sorted, pressure drop usually they have people in the end garage to do that. Remember to re adjust pressures for the road journey home!!
Make sure you tape over lights/mirrors...I hate it when brake lights are flashing on track lol

If never been before I recommend a NOVICE ONLY day, road bike days are all over the place, as Dave said you have fast riders jumping in to the Novice group and it can be a little unnerving. The NOVICE ONLY is an excellent way to lear the track as they place cones at the tip in point at apex, you simply join the (cones) dotted line..easy!

Depending on which company hosts the day you can pay or get some tuition free on track with their expert riders, again this is a good thing.

Wish I could make that day, possibly get on the Saturday 28th ..

As Dave said you will love it but be warned it IS ADDCTIVE...

you could be right there…..this is from BIKE mag …..

Road Bike Only Track Days capture the excitement of riding on track while ensuring a relaxed atmosphere without the worry of being on circuit alongside track day bikes or race machines.

The rules are simple - only road going bikes will be allowed to take part. This means road legal bikes with working lights and all of the other road paraphernalia. We strongly encourage all participants to ride to and from the circuit.

Riders will be split into three groups as per a normal track day but there will normally be two Novice groups and one Intermediate / Advanced group. The specific schedule and groups for an event will be listed below.

The format of the day will follow the schedule of our General Bike Days.

Please call us on 0843 453 3000 if you require further clarification.

they seemed to have enough on their hands, have you used them before? I have and thats why I am heading back, I won't use the so called big dealerships anymore I don't trust them and they cost an absolute fortune!!

I pick mine up next week may see you there

Dave, yeah I see that and have been before but at the end of the day you can argue that for safety sake especially those travelling from afar a van or trailer is a good idea.
I think i read somewhere the chances of an off following a trip to a track watching or riding increase on the road..cos we all think we are shakey or stalker lol

i really wish i was on it, missing the bikes ...roll on next week

I have known and dealt with Richard for many years. He lives around the corner from my mum and was a pal of my dads.
I have owned an old early 916 strada thingy since 2002 and he has looked after it since 2009 either at home, or in his workshop since he started up and went full time for himself.
He looked after a load of stuff for me last summer as i was between houses and living with my mum.

I completed on my house before xmas and just sorting the workshop out, but even still i rather pass the 916 over to Richard for all servicing. peace of mind and a job well done.

Eyes peeled for an old M reg early style 916 that looks very much like a 955 ;-)
