great turnout today - nice to meet some new (to me) faces :thumbsup: shame about the p*ss wet track tho - would've been much more fun if it was dry, i had no confidence at all! booked in the fast group which was first mistake, but it was completely sold out.... track was froze this morning so couldnt get on til 10... they salted it, which was a pain as it meant it didnt freeze, but didnt dry out either. i did the compulsory 3 sighting laps then went back to the garage with a few others as it was absolutely treacherous - lad in front of me on a 600 gixxer binned on the first bend on the 2nd lap, his day over, cans flattened, clutch mc smashed. lad on a cbr600 came off just after i turned in... then another, then another, then another. even guys on wets were losing it. so i thought fk it, im not smashing the storm up again so i nipped home and swapped the firestorm for the zx750r (after running out of petrol outside my house & my 2 petrol cans in the garage trackside :/ ) it's wearing storm ultras, supposed all-weather tyres... hhhmmmm not frozen soaked racetrack type weather lol! the front end held ok but coming out of every bend i was wheelspinning & stepping out. did one full session on it then another 2 laps, then sat out the last session as i just didn't feel safe... i'd much prefer it to have been dry lol! ran it off into the grass on one bend due to braking too late, then a cb500 cut me up on knickerbrook chicane and i had to go through the runoff, then on the next lap it stepped out at druids, got it back but too late to brake & ended up a foot deep in the gravel but managed to stay on it lol! by the end of the day there was only 10-12 in each group, due to offs and others retiring out of common sense! that's it til springtime for me now, no more trackdays til it warms up again! happy that the zx got a run, i now know what i need to do to sort it for spring, doesn't need a lot tbh. saw another 2 vtr's today, one race prepared black one and a yellow one spectating... oh and a silver one on the track on saturday with a fit lady rider 3 cheers for the spectators & photographers. hip hip! and hands up who thought them cb500s were loons lol - they were flying round, getting kneedown in the wet lol! rofl at minja sean sabotaging his wiring loom and immobilizing his fuel pump!
Great effort for going, sounds like I did the wise thing n stayed away, Its mad when the weathers like that, it would be better if it was just raining all day at least the wets would work. I am selling my offroad bikes in favour of one of those cb500 or 900 track race bikes there friggin awesome Benny, its so much easier to find the limits with flat bars you can have a go on my duke if ya like.
yeh ive found that meself in the past, easier to lob a bike down with flat bars. the zx handles superbly, i think it was just sliding due to the fact the tyres have only done 40 miles and a wet track isnt really the ideal place to scrub them in lol! after today's performance, i think riding someone else's bike would be a bad idea! :footinmouth: fortunately none of our crew came off tho

nah m8, stood it up on the bend after the back wheel stepped out, then slid all over the toothpastey bit first and when it was clear i wouldn't get round i just ploughed straight on... went in nice & deep tho!
