The misses has just bought me a car as she's sick of me using hers and the mileage increasing so rapidly on a brand new car.
So.... Mine will be delivered tonight, only problem being I think the cam followers need replacing (slightly noisey)
Q: does anyone have a motor trade account so they are @ £8 a piece instead of £17?
Reason being I'm sure it's x2 per cylinder and being a double overhead cam that means x8 which on top of my tax is a fair whack so close to xmas :/

    Ford?

Sure it's not just the rockers that need adjusting? (Assuming it's an "older" car)

An MG TF 1.8 sprint (and start the hair dresser comments)
Moves well, is pretty much mint and only 30k on the clock :)

Has been sat for a while so the guy put brand new tyres and brakes on her but I think the engine will need a flush and a new alternator with a better amp output and she's a beauty.

I'll add a pic now, plus has a private plate :)

Great car, and other than the obligatory head gasket failure whenever there was a day in the month it was pretty reliable.

followers can be noisy if it's been stood around for a while, doesn't always mean they are knackered.

Thought best to replace anyway, x16 of the buggers though :/ ffs.

Putting a new alternator on her too as the battery is dead and that's a usual cause.

Other than that the car is ace :)

Has had a brand new engine put In it too thanks to MG With an updated head gasket so that usually failure shouldn't happen (fingers crossed)

how long has it been stood for and how old is the engine?

Later engines had a multi layer HG fitted which helped but WASNT a cure. Also in addition to this the thermostat was moved from the head inlet to the outlet to help prevent 'thermal shock' (cold water entering hot engine causing the head to expand/contract on the block to quickly causing eventual HGF) this newer stat (PRT) also operated on pressure not just temperature.

I owned several K-Series powered cars and never had a HGF, which I put down to not only correct maintenance but also correct warm up AND down of the engine, ie don't thrash from cold and let the engine idle a little before turning off a thrashed engine (like the old turbo's). This may well have been just my little placebo routine, but it worked for me.

The K-Series was a ground braking engine when it was launched (Very light, low water jacket, quick warm up) and went on to power lots of sports and performance type cars (Lotus Elise etc). Sadly, it'll always be tainted by the HGF thing hence why MGF/TF's can be had for next to fook all.

Oh, and change the standard coil overs they are complete shite!.

funny you should mention the coils as i thought about replacing these too but its difficult to find the correct ones as so many are listed, just something i always change with new bikes/cars that i own.
    Any suggestions?

haha i do love a challenge but the Benelli, bar spitting its relays out and cutting out when rolling off the throttle (excuse to go really fast) hasn't ever caused me any other issues. Problem now being that the Green Flag have caused over £3k in damage to her and are refusing to pay out or accept blame saying i cannot prove they caused the damage as i never took any photos, the whole reason they caused the damage was because they sent a car transporter to pick up a bike and my phone was dead so i couldn't call and do their job to rectify this nor take photo's :,(
