BMW's 'K' series bikes, while being great bikes, struggle a little in the looks department, especially with the rear light looking a bit like a Baboon's Arse (though not as bad as Suzuki's GSXF!) Luckily eBay came to the rescue with Wunderlich's Triton2 light, which is a HUGE improvement, especially on the K13R! Sorting the rear light harness is proving to be a bit of a pain in the arse as it's CANBUS and not quite plug and play, but now I've sorted which wire goes where, it's Solder time! Next job is sort the number plate mount and I'm sorted.
Looks much better I got a similar one for mine, black instead of red. Came from the USA though so the connectors were all wrong. I just cut them all and crimped on new connectors from maplin, then taped them all up. Nice plate though
Oh ye of little faith! All done and dusted, splices all shrink wrapped and then the whole sub-loom wrapped in self-amalgamating tape so it looks (semi)-professional! (And no CANBUS alert saying there's a bulb out!)
Loving the plate, not strictly speaking within the regs, but it's not like you should be setting the example is it.
What is CANBUS? I'd never heard of it before, but it mentions it on the optimate I just bought Live Forever or Die Trying
It's a vehicle standard of databus. Rather than have everything running of a separate circuit with a positive and negative wire back to the battery, you effectively set up a ring circuit, and then send digital signals to turn things on and off. I'm sure there's a better description of a databus out there somewhere!
