Excellent! You should join Antzxr, GixxerD and I on a run to Scotch Piper one evening closer to Summer...it's a jolly good little bimble, plenty opportunity to take in the scenery. I'll be at the back of the group pedalling along on my BMX, smoking a pipe whilst enjoying the carnage that unfolds lol A very interesting read this thread, and highly entertaining. Keep up the good work peoples! as Paul said above! I wanna do this again! haha! or try as the case was.... Be more than the forks wobbling if you try keep up with them three! haha! be up against this.. haha! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G2jgbQOXltg
Don't think I will get out this Sunday, if I can I will catch up with this thread and see where you are all heading.
Unlikely that the springs are gone! Start with the basics, tyre pressures, visual check over, is everything tight and for any slack that shouldn't be there. What mileage is on the bike? A lot of bikes could do with a refresh of the fork oil, (which is a fairly straightforward job you can do yourself) after about 12-15,000 miles. Original rear shocks aren't the best and while might be OK for the MOT, can make the handling feel a bit 'odd' when the pace picks up a bit. Have a look in the workshop section and if you've got any questions, post up, there'll be someone on here who'll be able to answer!
Even at night I'm pleasant to other road users I'm amazed no one else has made a night time video of the mountain run ! Not many on YouTube ? Mine could be the only one ? Ref the speed on Sunday I almost reached 88 mph now that time traveling speed ! ;-)
The fact that bike is doing my top speed in 3rd gear might give it a bit of an advantage! I'd give it a go during the day though! Bikes on 13000 mile so probably could do with some fresh fork oil! Tyre pressures are fine, 33 front and 36 rear. Don't know how old the rear shock is though but it's not the original as it's longer and was the shiniest thing on the bike when I bought it  It more than likely is the forks as it's really soft and they only have about 3/4 inches of movement before bottoming out Cheers for the reply!
thats quite a low tyre pressure on the front id say more off a 36 is required ? if our tyres are underflowed, this will defo not elp any handling issues. your manchester ? go to kais suspension near atherton , they will tell you exactly what the problem . new oil is not a difficult job to replace. but read the manual for the recommended amount, too much pops the seals and too little will have you wobbling. If the whole bike wobbles, not just the front, you would be wise to check the rear shock, adjusting the compression and damping , but only by a quarter of a turn. Again speak to Nick or Andy white at kais , they will set the whole bike up for around £40, So that it is tailor made for you and your type of riding
I'll try it with a few more psi then Wobble is definitely at the front as a little shake of the bars gives at a slow tank slapper style wobble, not a proper one though just feels twitchy! £40?! I always though suspension work etc would be expensive! haha cheers for the heads up!
has the bike been jacked up at the back, little extra piece of metal which goes under the rear shocks??
Thats why, will feel lighter tipping imto corners , when you let go of the bars i bet they start shaking? Previous owner of mine jacked my bike up felt horrible so had them removed, feels well better now (normal)
pressures should be 36 front n back , mine feels slightly twitchy on the front in a straight line and on tip in but then so did my old one just grab it by the balls and make it av it !!!!!!!!!!
