New project soon

Well been on the phone to my mate and his son has this Shineray Spyder 250cc road legal quad rotting away on the drive.
He has asked me if i can take it away and rebuild it and get it running back on the road then sell it and give his son £500 and i keep the rest, thinking i might just give him the £500 myself and make this into a project hehe lol

Im thinking either vinyl wrap or respray a nice colour, grind down all the chrome so i dont have to maintain it and spray the chrome parts some colour ill dicide when it comes to it, and maybe look at fitting either a inline 400cc engine from a cbr400 or something similar. He has changed many of the chinese parts on it for better quality none chinese parts lol so will change the rest of the parts from chinese to something better.

I think this could be a good project, what do you think?




Once its done ill keep it for a summer toy aswell as my bikes of course, with the standard 250cc engine in its gutless barely cracks 50mph lol so with a 400cc inline 4 in damn that will shift

 

Yeah he took it to get fixed at a garage of a guy he knows and the guy said you cant get tires anywere for the rims that were on the back lol, so he put them wheels on the front and the original front wheels on the back (some mechanic eh lol) its meant to have really wide wheels on the back.
2 mins of searching and i found them online for £60, there 270/30-14's.

He did pay £2500 for it about 2 years ago, i did warn him when he was buying it that chinese things aren't good, but give him his due he changed most the chinese parts, i was thinking just wacking a cbr400 or r6 engine in strenthen all the frame, better suspension etc just to fuck about on lol

 

Yeah they will be getting sorted aswell because there the chinese crappy ones lol, Think it would be cool as you see these driving round and they look good but you can fart faster and with an r6 engine in it will go like shit off a shovel lol

 

That would be good with a 400 lump in it id also slap a turbo on it and a good dump valve, speak with Ned.

Personally I'd walk away and get a proper quad that you can take off road if you fancy

Dont really want one for off road, prefer it to be road legal, plus this one i dont have to pay my mates son straight away can just give it him in bits. Thats if i decide to have it for myself.
If i dont have it for myself he still wants me to fix it up and sell it for him

yup, i'd love sommet like that. hope you got somewhere fairly big to strip and store all the bits. can imagine it taking up some serious room (and time) especially if fitting an engine that wasnt designed to be in there
good luck though, that'd be ace with a 600 in it !

 

Yeah its going in my brothers double garage, wouldnt keep it at mine it would get nicked in no time lol

 

The quad got dropped off at my brothers today ready for me cleaning it up, going to strip the whole thing and grind down all the chrome and spray it silver so dont have to maintain chrome.
Frame will get sprayed in shiny gloss black.
Going to source some nice alloys for it.
New brakes
And the main thing a better engine, so was wondering if anyone knows what other engine has the same or nearlly the same mounts as this? want at least 450cc or above to go in it, dont mind doing a bit of fabrication but cant be bothered with loads lol

 

I think one of your 4 cylinder babies will slot in there no problem

 

It would do but would have to do more fab lol, if i can get a decent crosser engine thats got loads of power and doesn't need much fabrication it would be a bonus, if not then ill see about sticking an inline 4 screamer in lol

 

Thing is a decent 525 or min 450 single would cost around £600 for an engine and then you should rebuild the crank & throw in a piston at the very least. Deck it get a 4 cylineder in there itll be a peice of piss

Done a bit of research and found an engine that's going to be quite easy to fit and make it go like shit off a shovel ............Honda 650 dominator lmao they have pretty much the same engine mounts and apparently with the 650 dominator in they piss all over raptors

Now i need to hunt for a dominator engine haha
