after buying my ninja its finally got to me about the colour difference in the panels front/side, so as the lad in the bodyshop owes me a favour.....and the manager is off this week its time to get it started. how it looked before its going to be a similar shade of blu-the vauxhall vxr arden blue and a black that the lad has mixed up. stripped most of it wednesday night at my mates garage the wheels and rear subframe are now off too, all the frame work is going to be done in satin black hammerite. got the wheels and black bits back on saturday morning so i built the wheels back up and put the rim tape on got a couple of light and 1 medium coat on the frame too, more rubbing down monday night and a couple more coats to go on excuse the camera phone quality pics
should look good but watch that satin hammerite m8 - i did my frame in it & it looked great til i splashed fuel on it. it isnt fuel resistant & will bloom, plus you cant put a lacquer over it cos it bubbles it off. probs best asking the paintshop lad to mix some 2 pack up for you - you can probably get it put in rattlers if you ask around. keep the pics coming
I know. Id already put the light coats on when you mentioned it on t'other thread lol. Ill just have to be carefull with the fuel i think
you can t cut out the bloom but then you end up with a gloss bit against the satin black. i ended up waxing mine over the top which does help. it chips quite easy as well so make sure youve done all your spanner work first before finishing it off. also, be carefull flatting it between coats - i found mine was laminating, like peeling off in layers. you need a proper good keyed surface for it to stick well
just a bot of an update, not far off now. got most of the panels back now just waiting for the seat unit up close on the black.. built up the nose front wheel and hugger on back wheel rear hugger and tail tidy petty tank is on and just put the nose on, just waiting for the new mirrors to come. not to far off really. next pay day ill get some new brake lines and a set of short levers
Looking good matey, love the blue colour! Are the wheels painted or powder coated? they look awsome
I have just put a new set of fairnings on mine as i was not happy with the paint on mine and its lookin good.
