would it possible to make the members list viewable to only members???

just as a security thing, if you look at recent visitors to your (or anyone's ) profile, there seems to be a lot of guests looking at them.

i personally dont see a reason why a non member should need to view a member's profile & info?????

    just a thought. :)

Sometimes I view the site as a guest coz I'm not logged in.
The old site used to keep me logged in permanently on my iPhone, but the new site seems to log me out from time to time.

Also I enjoy spying on you Benny!!! lol

You can enter lost any web site forum any way to view....that's what gets members signed up....if a guest can't see sod all why would they join? I totally see where your coming from though. I'm sure a guest has restrictions , like they can't post etc....maybe you have them restricted to viewing .one forum like off topic. .

On some sites you can only open five pages or so, then you get a join notification. ... I'm sure Paul and the team know who is watching who etc.

Its actually safer to leave it public.

If it was private people are more likely to post sensitive material and at the end of the day people can still sign up and see all your info!

i dont mean restricting the forum at all winky, i just mean specifically the members list.
i can understand some people view the forum and read posts at work as guests cos they cant log in and stuff... and that some guests are here from google searches and from linkes posted on other sites...but i dont see why anyone should need to view the member's list, and particularly the profiles of other people, when they are not signed in or not registered, unless it was for some not so cosher reason.

we all know plod and other such unsavouries view the site, and various forms of spammers and bots... i'm just suggesting a measure to protect genuine members.

this used to happen a lot on a site i used to run... which was slightly illegal... and due to the nature of the forum we (i) did not want authorities being able to crossmatch members with some of their postings and comments, for their own protection.

we all know recently people have been nicked and jailed for comments they have posted on tinternet, twitter, facebook, forums etc - how would you feel if your door was kicked in and your computer and biking gear was seized over a vid you'd posted or a comment you'd made.... or if you were implicated in a case where someone was injured in a crash or worse?

im sure you get where im coming from.... it just struck me as odd before when i looked at my own profile and saw how many guests had viewed it today

We should defo have the membership list private. If the outside world finds out about the pervs and nutters we got on this forum we could end up with millions of sick and twisted new members that fit in far too well.

I've set it so guests can't view your profiles, however I can't deny access to the member list without completing a few edits which I'd prefer not to make. Just remember, if someone wants to view any info you've added to your profile, all they have to do is create an account to get access.

If you really want to restrict your profile, go to:

Profile > Privacy > People Who May > View details on your profile page > select "People You Follow Only"
