does any body know of a course or such for basic bike maintenance and repairs.looking to get a little education on some of the basics but it all seems to be nvq and apprenticeships.is there no longer night schools ????
you can learn basic bike maintenance very easily yourself, by following a haynes manual or similarhaving the right tools to do specific jobs is all it takes.
For basic m+r I would just get yourself a manual for your bike and get stuck in. If you are struggling with anything just ask on here or bike specific forum. That's what I used to do.
Basic stuff is easy mate. Service stuff like oil, filter, air filter, plugs, brakes, chain, sprockets etc are all tasks that almost anyone can do. Most workshop manuals can be downloaded or bought on ebay.
yeah been looking for a haynes .wanna start with cables etc sort of thing i can do at the roadside without calling the rac etc .then move onto mods so i have something to do over the winter .
the manuals are very easy to follow, and explain everything you need to do,in detailed steps.whenever i get a different bike the manual is the 1st thing i buy.
thats where my problem lies i get pissed when it goez wrong lose the plot and start hitting things then end up with more work anf a bigger bill
You got it all wrong. Get the Haynes manual and give it to Mrs E along with a new set of overalls like this :-
I just don't have anywhere to do the work and cant leave a bike in bits outside the house.... i NEED TO FIND SOMEWHERE i CAN KEEP THE BIKES AND THEN OVER WINTER TRY AND GET THEM WORKING AND SOLD
