OK a year ago, two up this bike did 160 and that was with a fat bastard like me on it and a 7 stone ballast weight on the back not some skinny dude. This last few days at different places, I cant get it much over 120 with just me on it. Smudge passes me like I am stood still. The front and rear wheel bearings have been overhauled , The front and rear Callipers have been overhauled The chain has been replaced The front and rear sprockets have been replaced The bike runs on 97 octane fuel . SO what do I need to do to get this back to being a quick bike? Need the carbs checking to make sure I don't have a bust diaphragm? , replace the plugs with better ones? check the fuel filter to make sure flow is ok? what else? there must be something that will make a big difference?
If your top speed's that much down your bike's probably only putting out about half its normal power, my guess would be that there's something wrong with it. HTH
yep there is something wrong with it you were all quite correct I was wondering if any of you are accountants
Id suggest the first port of call is a quick dyno run to establish if it is indeed down on power. Should only cost about £40 and will give you a far better idea of where you need to be looking.
yes that has been suggested Lee any idea where I can get it done ,,, The power loss is most noticable in the lower gears acceleration particularly up hill... and its reluctance to get anywhere near its red line ,,,,
First thing I would do is check the colour of the plugs after a decent run to see if the mixture is roughly ok. Has the MPG changed over the year?
Slightly less 180 miles per tank instead of 200 .I will organise new plugs next Thursday when I get paid again. .
Im sure ninja sean has used pete alton and recommends him highly http://www.otcdynocentre.co.uk/80720/info.php?p=10
Is the air intake and filter clear/clean? I saw exactly the same symptoms once when a mate lost his Buff. He found it blocking the air intake
Pete & Nic @ OTC are fucking awesome. You should deffo drop the bike off saying "its weak". A day or two later collect the bike and try not to spaff in your pants.
Well just going to save up some cash and get the bike set up properly, the forks and shock needs doing so may as well get the thing sorted properly in one stop.
