I definately want to go next year as I haven't been for the past 2 now. Don't know if I could handle doing the route you're suggesting.

I cant get there any other way mate, physically cant stomach a boat. Can meet you over there instead if its easier, dont mind getting chunnel on my own and making the hike there on me todd. Bags of time to sort it yet anyway.

you can get pills for sea sickness you know....take it as you get on and you'll sleep till you get there...wont be ill and its much shorter.

i reckon we'll be up for this next year.

The usually was is the ferry from Portsmouth - Caen. It is an overnight ferry. This is much better than the Dover - Calais route.

If you go Dover/Calais, it's just short of 600 miles to ride from Liverpool. Portsmouth/Caen is 485 miles. Don't forget, it doesn't soun like a big difference, but when your bike is packed full of your shit, it is.

I'd look to do this again in 2010 as it was a blast when we did it last year. Depends on finances but i'm sure i'll be there.

Lack of bike had nothing to do with it, if I had the funds, I'd have just nicked yours and gone :p
