Flew to Lanzarote earlier this month.

Took my helmet & gloves in my case & wore my leathers & boots on the plane :D

It was hot but fuck it. Just because I'm on holiday and the sun is out doesn't mean I'm immortal.

I was the only biker on the island wearing gear lol. I did see one guy wearing a textile jacket though.

So yeah. Went out searching for a bike and found a 690 Duke.

I was expecting to be stuck on an old BMW GS or something but the duke was (I think) the 2013/2014 model with ABS, and looked almost brand new.

I forgot to mention my restricted license :zip:

    Video coming soon :D

    Good roads:
    LZ-10 to Haria
    LZ-207 Haria to Arrieta
    LZ-67 through the volcano park
    LZ-601 if you're taking it off-road

Loads of off roading fun. If I had a full license already I'd sell the XJ6 and buy a 690 duke. I've fallen in love.

:)Probably because he wanted to avoid the access baggage charge. Leathers are heavy n bulky, but no charge if you wear them.

390 or 690 Duke would be an excellent choice for rattling round an island for a week or so, and I too am jealous. Not so sure I could live with a single full time.

The 690 is a great single.
A lot less vibey than most. Really is a cracking engine.
The only place I thought it struggled was on long motorway journeys. Which to be fair isnt what its meant for.

I agree that's prob' the case. Can see that scratching round the Alps, it would be a hoot, but getting there.

Looks good pal, glad you had a good time!

Closest I've got to a decent bike so far is my 1991 Astra estate and a Piaggio Wiz (or some shit) This bloody 3rd world country is backwards!

Only seen one proper bike whilst I've been out here and that was a bloody Harley!

Looks like that was a great trip, some amazing roads and views over there, and the Duke if defo the tool for the job.
I think we need to start a KTM support group, I am missing my 640 SM as well :-(

Rode one to northern france a few years back.
To be fair it was fine at 80. But not much puff thereafter. And my arse was in tatters (it was the sm version with the narrow bench for a seat)

Most airlines to spain rip you off thats why lol,

I flew to menorca this week, we got 10kg of hand luggage only. For 20kg case it was like £50 on top. I would of wore my leathers too lol

They wouldn't fit in case and would have put it way over the weight limit haha

The trip wasn't planned either... Last minute thing before I started my new job so I just sort of winged it haha

Worked out good in the end.

You need to learn to travel a bit lighter mate.

Im still giggling at the thought of you steaming away on the plane.

I have to admit I wouldn't even bother taking leathers with me. I don't even wear them here! Probably some kevlar jeans and a light textile jacket for me AT THE MOST. Shorts and tshirt though :p

I rode in a T shirt on one of the days and didn't like it. Wind constantly beating away got on my nerves haha

On the plane I put the jacket in overhead storage so it was only pants & boots for the majority. On the flight out there I was actually cold because they had the air con on full haha

In terms of bags I only had a backpack. I then paid £35 for a suitcase which contained my helmet, and six pillows to protect it lmao
