..... Which is great and everything, but since buying I cant help but go over the same question in my head, and this is where you guys come in hopefully! Only been riding properly for about 12 months now and decided its about time I bought a nice new exhaust to treat the bike.... after all it deserves it ;-). I bought a Carbon Look Oval 450mm can..... but I noticed I could have bought a 400mm or a 350mm can.... what would the difference have been if I had bought one of these instead? Despite the one I've ordered being 450mm long, what can I expect from it? FYI I am riding an '07 SV650S.
As far as I'm aware it will just be louder if it's shorter, not sure on performance. My CBR has a carbon can co exhaust on and it's bigger than a stubby but smaller than full size and sounds good.
Shorter does not always work with power, the engine needs a certain amount of back preasure (not really sure how it all works) but a long can without cat in it usually performs better than a shorter version, the only real way of telling is to get it on a rolling road or speak to someone that tunes them for racing. They do race them in the mini twins so I imagine theres loads of tips online.
As Daz said above, im sure ( dont quote me on this though ) that the shorter it is the louder it is but the longer the faster it is ? thinkg its due to the amount of pressure build up what the bike needs to run properly
Cheers for the replies guys... edned up going for middle of the road 400mm can... best of both worlds really by the sounds of it... Should be delivered and installed by the end of the week... pics to follow when all is done and dusted! :-D
i had to buy a new fuel can the other week. pissed me off tbh as i already have 3 but ones got glycol coolant in, ones had diesel in and the other is buried in the garage somewhere. ive started carrying a gallon of unleaded in the van now in case i run out on the bike again, or pass a stranded fellow biker while im out & about at work. dib dib & all that. yes. btw short zorsts look & sound great but are poo for performance.... mine wouldnt rev into the red proper with stubbies on but bounces off the limiter in every gear with full length cans.... your choice!
All sorted, looks and sounds great.... going without the baffle as well for now h34r: Piccie :icecream:
dont go to any old attended petrol stations in wales or they'll stick the nozzle in the outlet lol
