well most of you now know i own a cb 500, but ive been altering it bit by bit, if u dont, u do now, lol. well... im wanting to do quite a bit of work on er whist shes hibernating over winter.
One of the jobs im wanting to do is jack the rear end of er up a bit. not loads couple inches tops.
Its just pie in the sky at the mom, so opinions ppl. is it worth doin and if so whats best way at a low price if poss, lol.
Also can u jack it up with out throwing er out of balance, ie. cornering.

ps. you will find my bike in the garage section of the forum, yellow cb 500, there should be a pic of the rear end, forgot to mention, bare in mind i have already removed the mud guard, altered indicators and bracketed license plate back on.

    cheers

I wouldn't do it as without the propper advice and tech know how you will change the bike geometry drastically

my fazer saw a massive imrpovment once jacked up....

However i have been told my new bike (SV650s) is awful if you mess around with said things.

Either find someone thats dont it or leave it well alone!

dropping the forks too much or jacking the rear too high can make the bike very twitchy at low speed and cuts into corners too fast at higher speeds.
rofl at pimp streetfighters and stuff with the arse in the air cos i know they will handle like a bag of fk.
some are improved by raising the back a bit - the firestorm for example has a habit of drifting in fast turns but with the rear raised with a 6mm spacer the difference is very noticeable..
you can counter it by fitting a fatter rear tyre and other stuff.
fitting a damper isnt the answer though as it only masks the fkt up geometry.

experiment and see whats a good compromise for you between handling & styling.

cheers fellas. just been looking on net, and it says if raise the bracket on the swing arm were the shocks attach too and keep them at same angle it shouldnt effect the geometry... when you think about it, it shouldnt.

just means fabricationg a new barcket and replacing it. i have a mate thats could poss do it, worth a try.

Why go to the effort? The best you can expect is it being only slightly worse...
