    Got my renewal through today.
Having in the last year fitted aftermarket end cans, aftermarket brake levers and am currently fitting an after market dash, I figured this was too much to blag off if the unspeakable were to happen.
Rang the insurance company and explain I wanted my insurance recaluting based on the above.
    Never mentioned the renewal premium.
The renewals clerk caluclated the new quote, which I accepted.
£160 cheaper than the quoted price for the bike as standard. :lmfao:
Had the policy through by E-mail already and read it 5 times through and eevrything looks spot on.
How the pheck did that work?

    :bleh:

Its always a bit of a gamble. I might have modified my bike with several upgrades like cans, crash bungs, LED rear lights etc. do I inform my insurers or not. Some mods actually decrease any damage ( and subsequent reair costs) should I have an off, yet they can increase my policy price. What a load of bollox

Fruit bat: call up and say you are looking at adding some thinga to your bike and ask if it would it affect your insurance, see what the price is an if its good state you have ordered the parts and can you process the change. If its bad say oh no ill keep it standard ;)

    very common this.
adding a spouse to a policy often brings it down.
Was told its because married people are a lower risk. dunno how true that is.

What are the rules on declaring modifications?

If I crash and smash the bike, I don't care if they only pay out for the standard bikes worth.

Do you NEED to declare, or is it just so that you get the correct payout? I mean if I don't declare an aftermarket exhaust and then I crash, I'll just get paid out to the value of a stock bike, yes? Or would they refuse pay-out all together?

Read the terms of your policy.

problem is you may not know until the worst happens.
may pay, may just void the policy.
I always go off the idea that if they can wriggle out of paying then they will

If they are bothered about modifications day, then yeah will void your policy. wont get paid shit, and get done by police for no insurance.
