    Hi
anyone know anything about F1 codes on suzuki gsxr range. I have been on GISXR.com but they don't explain it very well.
It's nothing to do with my oil even though the red oil light comes on, someone on GISXER said it might be due to after market
exhaust fitted which my bike has. The battery might be getting old as well. could it be that? I read somewhere that if you press the kill switch when
you get the problem, it tells you the code. What code?

if and when you press the kill switch it shows the code on the dash …I've never heard of this before ,,,but if it does it will flash up a number ..look this number up somewhere or ask a dealer , and that will tell you what the problem is …

from what i heard with the GSXRs when the F1 light is flashing you put it into dealer mode this will give you the code
this is how to get dealer mode ...http://www.bugmanweb.com/gsxr/gsxrindex.html

you can get the codes here ...http://servicemanualsgsxr.com/suzuki-gsx-r-1000-2003-service-manual/

when you get the code it will tell you what the prob is then you can go about getting it sorted …..

sometimes also you can disconnect the battery in hope the fault if its electrical will go …if it wants to come back it will flash F1 again

hope all that helps ..good luck

this link works but the links on the site bugmanweb above don't. i think I'll buy a new battery and give that a go. thanxs for info mate.

Always be careful when diagnosing fault codes, sometimes the fault can be caused by something very simple. Such as an air leak.

Chances are it will be the exhaust valve cables that need adjusting simple job put light on all the time I worked at Suzuki in crewe a few years back and spent at least 2 days a week adjusting bike after bike or you can remove them and remove a wire from ecu stop light coming on but easy to sort properly

Paper clip or bit of wire over the terminals on the dealer plug will throw the code, cant remember the colours but google it .. its under the seat usually

Sounds like it could be the exhaust cable adjustment from the valve. need to check it soon. thanks for all the feedback.

Take it you found the actuator in the tail section (don't try to adjust them at the exhaust ) on the actuator there is a pointer in the middle of where each cable locates you want to adjust them on the lock nuts so that when the ignition is off the pointer is pointing to the back of the bike and it returns there each time you cycle the ignition

can you describe exactly where on the bike this box is? The box you short out with a clip or jumper.
I found a box with a rubber plug, under the pillion seat but it's not
got any of these coloured wires " Black and white. To Red and white"
Is it under the riders seat and do you need to remove any bits to get at it?
I'm not sure if the prob is the exhaust cables because they seem to be set right .

PERR 38 "I've got your number " Thanks mate i'll give you ring sometime over the weekend. I've actually stopped
the F1 problem by spraying WD on the solenoid and the cables move with the pointers to the rear of the bike.

I would still like to talk to you about the dealer mode block connection and it's location as i'm struggling to find.
