    You can pick up a nice carb Varadero 1000 for that. Good V Twin fun while still being up right, good to commute and to shuffle at speed around the twisty roads. It is also good for pillion comfort.

    This would probably be a very good match (clicky).

    Top end of the budget but perfect for what you're looking for :) Sports tourer so you get the upright position (I ride it sat almost completely upright as I find it miles comfier like that) but with the looks, handling and nimbleness of a sports. Very good combination, especially with parts being dirt cheap and plentiful and good old Jap reliability to boot :)
