Just thought i would do a post which i will update regularly with my progress on the bike.

So far we have figured that the battery is GOOSED haha. Put it on the optimate charger and after a few hours it read 13.1 volts. As soon i connected it back to the bike i got the neutral light and oil light. Clicked the headlight switch and all went off again. No response from ignition button at all.

Tried to bump start it, got a couple of mates to push it while i knocked it into gear, let clutch out and headlights came on, speedo all lit up and i could hear it spluttering and wanting to go. Revs built up but as soon as they stopped pushing it died again and wouldnt fire up. Tried a good few times in different gears, headlights on and off.

Going to get a new battery as soon as i can and strip it down and clean the carbs out and make sure i'm getting a spark in the plugs.

Any advice on what else i can do while its apart to try and get it to fire up with be appreciated :) (Keep it in laymens terms for me haha) [IMG]

If I were u I'd have oil out an filter off. Just so u know what the engine is doin. Check air filter while ur goin past then it's brakes and suspension.

Before I bought mine I checked the reviews and some were saying that the flywheel magnets have a common fault of coming loose or even coming off and need replacing.

Good shout on the oil change.
Drain the carbs, and the tank, then put a couple of quids worth of fuel in.
    Pull and clean the plugs.
Fresh battery an all will be sorted.

Ok, so progress so far. With the help of Scott and Cansa we stripped all the fairings and the tank off and removed the air box. Filter needs replacing (air box is currently having a bath in red hot water). [IMG]

Checked the carbs, a little bit of dirt in them but nothing major. [IMG]

Did notice one of the HT leads had split going to the spark plug so stripped that back a bit and sorted the wire out [IMG]

Connected a battery off a RSV Millie to it, reconnected the fuel tank and tried to fire it up but nothing from the button, forced a connection at the back of the bike (solinoid or something ? :-/ is a fuse there but was fine) jammed a screwdriver across it and it turned over. Put the choke on, few revs of the throttle to get petrol in the carbs and it fired up!! We finally figured out it was the connection to the clutch lever. A cut off thing or something? Played with the plug connected to it, hit the button and Viola it started up again.

So far the purchase list is :

    Battery
    Front wheel bearings
Service stuff (oil, filter, plugs etc)
    Brake fluid change
    Chain and sprocket kit
    Coolant

Other than that just a good clean and it should be good as new. Think it will probs cost me £150 very max to get it all sorted and ready to ride. Happy with the progress so far
