Solonoid will sometimes click when you hit the starter if its not functioning properly. This is a bit primative but it works, connect the positive and negative terminals of the solonoid with a screwdriver for a second, if she tries to turn over your starter is fine, but your solonoid is shot. Thats how i figured mine out.

Well they should be happy as fucking larry then shouldnt they.

Used them as laymans terms. We all know that the solonoid has a battery and starter motor side

if the relay is clicking away then it isn't making the circuit that it should do, start from the relay wiring and go from there. two wires will power it, may be switched earth etc, the other two are for the circuit it makes.

if you shorted the two terminals on the starter solenoid and nothing happened then there is no power there.

did you put a new battery on it or used one?

If you put a screwdriver between the two terminals, you should at minimum get sparks to indicate there is power going through as bloke said, if there were no sparks, the battery would definitely be my first port of call.

It there are sparks then i'd make sure the battery has enough charge, and if so, i'd assume that your starter has gone  just work your way from the battery and test everything, something will be out, process of elimination.
