Hi i was syncing my carbs yesterday had the bike on the side stand as you do. So i finally got the carbs perfect with my home made carb syncer and i moved the bike forward say 2 ft with the side stand down and it cut out so i started her up again tryed to move it again with the stand down and it cut out again but this time the idiot lights, head lights and clock lights faded flickered and went out along with the engine. Now when i turn the key i get no lights no exup noise not fuel pump nothing. Im really stuck here Has anyone got or had similar issues cheer
Theres no wires there mate im thinking ignition switch ill give it a look tomorow so annoying after syncing tbe carb the home made carb syncer workd mate
Have you had the battery of lately? Check the terminals. Check the main fuse, on the live wire from battery. Check any connections near the battery.
Battery is ok turns my bike over without the key always has done it wont fire with out the key though so battery is ok but still getying no idiot lights, exup noise, fuel pump noise plus when i hit the button it turns over but no life just like it does when theres no key. thats why im thinking the key switch because if it was the side stand cut off the lights would still come on true ?
Normally the lights will come on, yes. Did you check the terminals on the battery are tight? Check main fuse? Also with the ignition on turn the bars from lock to lock. This will help determine if there is a broken/damaged wire around the headstock. You will need to check for power to the ignition and a good earth before writing off the switch. Also check all connections along the loom.
Should be able to, but you need to put a screwdriver across the solenoid terminals, doubt this will help though as the bike won't start without power to the coils etc, which are fed through the ignition. You need to check whether you have power to the ignition switch. As a thought do the park lights work when you turn the ignition to that position.
You need to check for power at the ignition, you'll need a multi meter, or at least a test lamp. Start from the battery and work your way through the connections till you get to the ignition. If your not sure how you will need some help, a wiring diagram is a start.
