The early Fazer 600's are much better in the lower end and mid range than the more recent models. The newer types rev a lot higher though and are great streets ahead in the top end. Apprarently rejeting and K&N filters can help the older models if you can get the correct jet size...question is what size should it be after the mod?

Jetting sizes are usually trial and error as the jets only cost a cupple of £ a set so say for instance your running 120 mains and 70 piolet and your running rich I'd buy q set 10 to 20% either side try them and see what happens

Bridge Road motorcycles in Crosby helped me out big time when the I put a set of pod air filters on my last bike, and he keeps most jets in Stock

Ps you have posted this in stolen bikes

If your going to mod the bike by fitting an air filter and exhaust you'll probably lean the mixture out.
You shouldn't need to touch the pilot jets because there only used for idle.
There's plenty of info in the net on how carburation works its well worth a read imo
You need to find out what main jet sizes you've already got fitted and say go up a size or two, you should be ok then I'd recommend a run on a dyno to check your fueling when your done, just to double check you've got no lean spots through the rev range.
Let us know how you get on mate.

Many thanks Tom, the modification has already been done next stage is the main jetting. I will order a set up and try that.

If you have done the mods can you feel any problems through the rev range? If not no need to play with the carbs as tommo said but if anything it should run lean due to the extra air not rich due to extra fuel

problems in the higher rev range feels like the bike wont truely open out...

the temptation is to fit larger main jets but you will probably find it needs the exact opposite and is bogging due to too much fuel.
the only way to be sure is get it on a dyno.
you dont need to pay silly money to have it set up for you, just get the air/fuel printout and have a look what's happening then sort it yourself.
waste of time doing trial & error as it means tank off, airbox off, carbs off every time, then road test, rinse and repeat....

Dynos although great takes all the fun out of it!! There nothing like the feeling you get when you have had a feckle you jump on and give it a fist full and it goes as sweet as a nut!

agree in priciple but its very hard to get right and a simple £20 dyno run will give you a clear idea what's going on.
for instance on my firestorm, i did too many mods all at once and on the road it felt ok apart from a bit of low rpm chugging, then felt normal, then went wild over 7k to 10500 - making me think the mods id done had robbed a bit of low speed smoothness and given it a mad high rpm powerband.
thats how it got it's nickname Lurch!

on the dyno it turned out the idle screw setting was off, air turbulence from running with no intake snorkel, then a massive midrange flatspot cos the slide springs were too weak, making the slides open too soon and making the mix too rich (bogging) until 7k when it would be on the mains anyway and then it went like stink....

once these issues were sorted the bike now wants to rip my arms off from 1500 rpm right the way to the limiter. total animal of a machine and made the most of the mods id done.

and again on the sp2... first day i got it i fitted a power commander and set of akros, then stuck it on the dyno with a base map off powercommander.com.... its a good strong motor with nice power but there were dips where it was too rich, corresponding with dips in power.
a bit of tweaking on the laptop and its spot on.... ready for another run to confirm the changes.
(when i eventually get the fker back that is :/ )

thing is as well, any good dyno operator - pete alton for example or andy at j33 dynocentre, will have all their runs saved and will have a clear idea what your bike needs just off a quick power run.
it might be worth you looking on the fazer forums to see wht others have done and where they have had dyno work done.

before taking it to the dyno though, be sure you have new plugs, air filter etc and it helps to have a good chain n sprox set on and tyre if you want to see good numbers.

*btw - did you realise this is posted in the stolen bikes section lol!

I have put this on the wrong section so sorry to all, im waiting for admin to move it as this is not the area i want my bike.
I do have new rear tire, chain and spocket, not new plugs though. I will go the dyno route tha suits me better!
Im based in London so would prefer someone local
