Hardly a good comparison, but Phil had his first experience on an old 250 stroker today. I feel sorry for the kids of today, being stuck on some pretty boring 125 4 stroke bike and missing out on some of the better things the 80's and 90's had to offer us old farts. Modern bikes may have a gazillion BHP - but then you need it to shift all that bloody weight* * ok i mean bike weight not rider weight - oh to be in my teens and sub 10 stone again
Very nice it was too thanks Paul, good way to spend a day drooling over your exotica. That's not a euphemism for anything by the way.
I love the old NSR'S, But it's hard to find a 125 that hasn't been ruined by a chav. and I'd be too worried to use it as a commuter ! I Want a two stroke, but I'd have to keep another bike for commuting !
Yeah ! Unfortunately due to the new laws I'm stuck on a 125 for another two years -.- I have a bit of a thing for 2-strokes. The amount of power you can squeeze out of these little engines just can't be beaten.
Love the fag packet paint scheme's don't think I'll fit to well on a 250 thought lol Sent from my Nexus 4 via a satellite in space
This was my pride and joy, had to sell it to help pay my sons uni fees, that was a black day but at least he got a first, whatever that means. 1988 RS250R GP bike. Put the later fairing on it cause I preferred the shape.
The bloke that bought it said I could have it back anytime. He's had a bad stroke since and doesn't ride at the moment. I have a spare full set of the decals, was thinking of getting the blade painted up but it's a rare machine so I'd have to get another set of fairings and a tank.
Owdgit, there is something rather special about the Rothmans scheme and IMO it just works and suits bikes perfectly. It's also synonymous of our era and motorcycling from that era i think, i admit i bought my MC28 only because of its paint scheme. I think a genuine Rothmans MC28 SP is the prettiest bike i have ever seen - it's also handy its good to ride too. However the RS like your old bike is the proper deal without doubt. Get it bought back.

Have you had a look in their showroom ? Was in with the girlfriends dad the other week, he was having an electronic ignition fitted in his GT550 and we had a look. Some absolute beauties in there.
They're maybe two minutes away from J&S and not far from Ghost bikes, so if you're ever looking to shop it's worth a drop in, they advertise themselves as the 'two stroke experts of the north west', They have some lovely old two strokes in there.
After revisting this thread I must say that rothmans bike looks amazing Sent from my C6903 using Tapatalk
