OK may be a stoopid question by my link pipe and link clip is gettin really hot but the can is only gettin warm?

Could this mean that there is a leak where my can is connected??

nah thats normal mate, down pipes will be red hot, pipes will be cooler nearer the can

en cans can get warm if oil gets up there its a normal thing lad
